And I haven't bought L'Oreal for years. I used to, in my pre-radical years, and they did/do make some good mascaras.
It doesn't matter. Now I buy (and love) Urban Decay's mascara.
My point is(and I promise there is one) that generally you can find an alternative if you shop around some.
