Is Deckchair worth all the hype??
I'm really undecided on whether to get this or not. I think part of my wanting it is because I'm hearing that they are selling out like crazy everywhere, and so my question is, for all of you who have purchased it already: DID DECKCHAIR LIVE UP TO ITS HYPE?
One more thing -- While I haven't seen the D'Bohemia collection in person yet (I'm going tonight!), from what I've seen, Deckchair and D'Bohemia e/s look pretty close. If you had to choose one, which would you choose?
(I found this picture on LJ's mac_cosmetics
So the eyeshadow on the top is D'Bohemia and the pigment right below it is Deckchair. Similar? Let me know what you think.
As always, much appreciated... thanks in advance!

D'B eye shadow is much much brighter and oranger than deckchair pigment. Deckchair is a very pretty light peachy shimmer. I'm quite fond of it and relieved to have snagged one, but I think coco is the real standout of the 3 new pigs.

I'd chose the e/s if I had to pic,.... Lillith is right though it is more orange,.. Deckchair is a really shimmery light toned color,.. if you have ever seen Melon or like it you will like deckchair,.. it is more of a buttery pastel peach then melon. But I am a pigment whore soooooo,.. while I promised not to get all three piggies,... on the 12th I will prolly buy Provence which surprised me and Coco too.

Hmmm, interesting... most people are comparing Deckchair to Melon, but the thing that's throwing me off is that Melon is weird on me: So it's peachy-like in the jar, but when I put it on, it's a pale gold with no hint of the peachy colour??! Almost goes on like Gorgeous Gold e/s... weird, huh?? I don't know why!
Oh my, decisions, decisions!! I know what's going to happen: I'll end up getting both ($$$!!). *sigh, my poor wallet....*

I got deckchair along with coco (!!!!LOVE IT!!!!) but I'm not sure how much I like it. I think it's really close to Jest e/s...deckchair on me is a little chalky (unless I use MM, but this sometimes stings when it dries--am i the only one?).

I just got all three today and I love Coco. For me this is the must have of all three. Melon also comes out a gold color on me unlike the way it looks in the jar but Deckchair really comes out a pretty peachy color on me. I was really excited about this one because I wanted some peach colors in my collection but I was much more impressed with Coco.

I think this is definitely worth the hype. The texture and smoothness of application makes this a great pigment. Not only that, but because of the color it can be used on eyes, lips and cheeks. It is both light, but incredibly pigmented. Not too sheer.
I love this!

Jeanna, I hate Melon on me - It doesn't go on anything like it looks in the jar. I figured Deckchair would be very similar, because in the containers, the colours seem so close - they're COMPLETELY different on! I wasn't expecting to like Deckchair, and now I'm thinking of going back to my MAC store tomorrow and picking it up!
Here's a comparison for ya (hope this works!):

I bought deckchair today. It is really versatile. I have similar colouring as you (half filipino) and it shows up as maybe a warmer version of jest/naked lunch if that helps. It's the perfect colour for highlighting all over that I was looking for because I hated vanilla and pink opal only works with certain colours. The texture is unlike any other pigment. Doesn't flake everywhere and so soft I can put it on with my fingers.

IMO Deckchair is Def. worth the hype. For my makeover the MA used it on my eyes as well as a contour for the dewy look and I was glowing all ngiht!!! If I hadn't planned on buying it, i would have for that reason alone! I got all three piggies and I cant wait to try them out

I love it! It seems like it would be really versatile. One of the few pigments that you can use on your eyes, face, and lips. I think you should just go ahead and try it at the counter.

I like Deckchair, I am still iffy on Provence, love Coco but like Deckchair.
Its not "love" but like. I like it more than Melon, more verstile to me than Melon so its a keeper.

So nice of you to make a swatch of the two, jeanacolada!! Ok, so I ended up buying Deckchair and Coco (LOVE!) and passed on D'B e/s. And again, like Melon, it looks nothing like the colour in the jar on me. The way the colours look on your swatch are exactly the way these pigments look on me: Melon looks like a pale gold and Deckchair looks like a pale silvery-white (not peachy at all!) However, I still love the way Deckchair looks, even as a silvery/white (I'll probably end up using it as a highlight colour) and it looks amazing w/ Coco! Thanks jeanacolada!

I love this!
askewchick: I know what you mean about the texture!! I bought it last night, and while the colour on me wasn't quite what I had hoped, it's still a keeper because of the texture and smoothness. I tried it for the first time this morning with Coco, and I didn't even have to blend the two! They smoothed out all by themselves You gotta love THAT!

Krystle: Wow, you must have looked so gorgeous! I love that glowy, dewy look... So Deckchair as a contour, huh? I'd love to try that... where and how did the MA apply it?

I completely agree with you. I wish Melon would apply the way that it looks in the jar (although I also like the goldy color I end up with.) but I usually have to blend it with a little Pink Bronze for dimension.

I LOVE Deckchair! I used it on my lips with Babied on top- beautiful! IMO, pigments are more versatile than eyeshadows because they have so many more uses and do not go bad.

I agree with the more uses part, I love pigments! I think I will start collecting them instead of eyeshadows actually.
It's true that they don't really go bad?
