Enough with the Limited Edition already!
I feel like taking a bunch of Specktra girls with me to bumrush MAC headquarters. Why is EVERYTHING limited edition? I just saw on the site a few days ago that the Natural Mineralized Skin Finishes are limited edition. And it seems like everything that comes out Limited Edition is sold out within that week! I mean, dang! Can I get a palette or eyeshadow from a collection on Mac? I think they shouldn't make them soooo close together but give people a chance to get one collection and then another. Anybody else with me?

I thought everyone knew the skint one MSF were LE. They're expensive for MAC to make and they're not sure if something is going to sell before they make anything permanent. We'll use Oyster Girl as an example, they released it as LE MAC sold the crap out of it and it eventually became permanent.
The timeline for collections being released haven't changed much, they release one big collection (Lure, A Muse, Untamed) and small supplementary collections. If they launched collections once every 2 months it would get boring for us reaaaalllyyy quickly.

No. I didn't know. I thought it was just the *shimmery* ones. I'm new to MSF's so when I found one that works perfect as an everyday powder, I looked online and discovered it was LE. Thanks for the heads-up though. I hope I can still get the palette from Zandra before it sells out again.

what really upsets me about zandra is the fact that allmost all the colours are repromotes. :/

Yeah, but these are colors I don't have. Other people are just being greedy.

From the sound of things, there will be plenty of other palettes released around Christmas time as well. So I wouldn't be too heartbroken, because you might like those even more than the ZR one.

Sorrryy! I was one of the greedy ones....I got 2 palettes when they 1st came online. I didn't have any of those colors, either. Friday I went to the website about 4 times between 9AM and 4PM & the palette was available. I went back after 6PM and they were "sold out". I noticed, too, they had added some LE eyeshadows from past collections I thought were sold out -- A-Muse, etc. I asked for some feedback on sensualize, overgrown, mystical mist, lavendar sky and iris print LEs. What do you think of those colors? I'm NW45.

i'm nw45 as well: sensualize is BEAUTIFUL in the crease. i use it in the crease with blue absinthe, amber lights (sometimes both), i use it to make a smokey neutral combination with mulch and tan pigment, and it's just all around pretty. but it is a lustre, so it has that glitter flecking problem, but i don't mind it. i dont have mystical mist, but i swatched it at the time and it was gorgeous., lavender sky and iris print are from culturebloom...i bought them and never used them. they have horrible color pay off. you could get away with lavender sky as a highlight. overgrown is SEXY. i love it in the inner corners with darker greens, it's like SURPRISE!!! beautiful. if you can get your hands on it do it.

:loveya: Okay... You and Brianne made the same recommendations. I purchased sensualize, mystical mist and overgrown and used the free shipping code on the website. Gawd! I love the Specktrettes! We’re a great team!

I have to disagree on Lavender Sky, it's awesome. I'm fair though (NC20) so it shows up no prob. on me, especially with a base. It's alot like Mancatcher though, just more pinky lavendery instead of purple-y. It looks real pretty as a wash. I guess it is more sheer than some, but then I don't like my shadow super bright anyway. I like Iris Print too, I'm one of the few who don't find it chalky.

i don't think people are being greedy. it's a collector's item and has special packaging so i can see why it would be popular to have it. i bought 2 and would have bought more since these are nice colors and are popular colors. i feel that if someone wants to buy a whole bunch of them and they can afford it, then why not??
just my opinion

By the way, I didn't mean to give that a thanks. It's not about affording something, it's about there not being enough to go around. And of course you don't think it's being greedy.

MAC is out to make money bottom line. By releasing things LE they have people rushing out to buy. This is their sales tactic, and it's working. I'm at the point where my collection is large and if I have similar shades I'm not falling into the game MAC is playing. All in all you can't blame them they are a company out to make money. Not cater to us, and they don't. If they did they wouldn't have cracked down on specktra using their pics and have spys on ebay looking for resellers, and such strict rules at their CCOs.

People, this was just written out of frustration. Some of ya'll are taking it a little too seriously. I know that MAC is out to make money I was just saying I wish they weren't all so close together. I think everyone has the right to have an opinion, even if some people don't agree.

I did notice in the "Color Stories" section that the more recent years have a longer list of releases than earlier years. It seems, too, that everyone here gets amped up over the new collection coming out, then once that's in the store they're dying to find out about the next one & are anxious about being able to get it asap! So you've got people needing a breather in between stuff they want and have to snap up before it's sold out & completely gone, and those who want to get one of everything!
Maybe if you call around you can still find the ZR palette, or get a deal in a swap board or ebay.

Of course it's great to have a collector's edition of anything, but when people buy two, three, four, or six of a Limited Edition item, simply because they can afford it, and then once the item(s) are sold out turn around and sell them on Ebay, or even on here, for an absurd amount above retail, it's not about wanting several plus backups anymore. It's about people being opportunistic in the situation.
Is it wrong? Meh. Not really I guess, in a capitalistic sense. Supply/Demand and all that.
However, for example the ZR palette? If I wanted it and couldn't buy it retail, or something a bit above, (reasonably priced) then I wouldn't get it. It's ridiculous to pay exhorbitant prices, and I'm not going to make someone's day by paying for something they got at retail price just because they happened to either a) stay online until the item became available, b) went into a store and purchased a shitload of the item, or c) make a business of buying up LE/DC items and selling them at a markup.

It never ceases to amaze me the arrogance of ppl trying to second guess anyone’s decisions, actions or motivations about anything one does in life. Indigowaters was expressing a frustration; she was not attempting to analyze and chastise anyone’s behavior. I feel her disappointment. I’m on Specktra to receive help and share information; not brow-beat anyone. Name-calling and finger-pointing is uncalled for. No one should have to explain themselves here. Let’s show some maturity.
I look at it as “it’s only makeup” and I know I won’t die if I don’t get such and such from an LE collection. I lived before I knew about MAC and as someone has said, there’s always similar colors, etc. in MAC’s product line. I’ll just wait for the next go-round or be pleasantly surprised – like when Friday I saw MAC had placed LE items on their website I thought were gone forever. I don’t have a store where I live; I depend on the internet. I asked for opinions about some shadows and purchased what I didn’t have an opportunity to purchase when the collections originally came out. And smiled and was happy!

i agree, i think that some of the LE stuff coming out it just boring. The last thing i bought (other than VGVI) was Shimpagne MSF and the purple/ pink e/s duo. and i'm really not even impressed with those two things. if they would just release some realy cool, really well designed collections every 2 months with really fun & unique colors instead of rehashing the same old stuff every other week, i would like that more.

All the new collections with everything in them being LE makes your head spin sometimes. It's hard not to get caught up in the craze, and being on here doesn't help any - haha! Luckily for me I don't wear bright or crazy colors but rather stick with neutrals, so most of what I use on a daily basis are things that are gonna be around for a while. But I still jump on the LE bandwagon every now and then and usually reget it later (like with the MSF's I don't use).

I don't want MAC to stop with all the LE materials, I totally love that they keep on coming with the new collections, it just doesn't bore me. And If you go to the colorstories page and check out 2006 only, you must understand that it's not possible to make a lot permanent! I like it the way this are going now

its also ironinc that macs LE collections appear to overshaodw its fantastic permenant line products because people are so neurotic about buying up LE items before they sell out.
the term LE no longer denotes its exclusivity and will possibly diminish the effect with people who are catching on to the fact that some colours are too similar to what they already own.

Don't get me wrong, I love certain items in the LE lists, I just don't feel the urge to buy everything in every collection just because MAC lists it as OMGZZZ LE STUFFZZZZZ

Thanks. That's what I'm saying. I don't get all the collections because I don't feel I need EVERYTHING that comes out. That's why alot of people have Swap/Sell lists though. They bought too much of something or never even tried it and are now trying to get rid of it. I mean, as much as I want the Flowering Quad I'm not going to pay more than $5 dollars above the price just because someone's trying to get over. I got a fold-out invite to the Lure event and didn't go and now wish I had the fluidlines and some of the other stuff. I buy according to what I need at the moment, not to one-up someone and be like "Muahaha! I got the last one!" I don't have enough eyelids to wear everything in one day. I'm just saying it's disappointing that when something comes out one day and I'm at work, to get home and it's sold out.

Offtopic...sorry, but..
Uhm...am I missing something here? Because in none of the posts I have seen has anyone called the threadmaker a name or chastised her... In fact, the closest thing to namecalling I can see in this thread was when the thread maker herself used the little loser emoticon in a response to someone's post that merely expressed disagreement, not insult her. So unless I'm missing something and someone edited name-calling out of their post, I think we all need to just chill for a second, because the ones accusing others of making a big deal out of things are the ones who are really making a big deal out of things. Offering a differing opinion and chastising someone are different things. Let's not all get carried away here... Now, I'll step off of my soapbox. And I'm not trying to offend anyone either...I just don't think that this needs to escalate in to a fight when I don't think anyone intends to hurt anyone...
And now, to address the topic, I agree with you Indigo...there was pretty much a new collection every other week this summer! All the new LE items is enough to make anyone's head spin, and i know it made me crazy! I missed out on several items that I want now, like Gold Dusk pigment, which is now always over 20 bucks without shipping on ebay and pretty much the same on specktra! Sometimes all of the new LE items make me feel like I'm missing out. I'm not trying to sound whiny, because it's just makeup, but it does kind of stink when there's an item you really really want but can't get because it's sold out!

The only reason I did that was to sort of poke fun at the people who were taking it a little seriously, but there were some people "talking" to me as if I didn't have the common sense to know that MAC is trying to make money. I think the opinion took a smart-alek (?) turn when it was implied that just because someone couldn't get a certain product, that they couldn't afford it. I didn't even bring that up because it's nonsense. Notice I said implied (for the next person who attempts to school me).
