Thumbs up Going to Pro class
I'm going to a Pro class on Friday taught by Victor C (you can check him out at the MAC site). I know they won't bring everything, but are there any must sees/haves in regards to m/u and brushes? Altho I can get Pro products thru friends there isn't a Pro store in Oregon-so it will be neat to some of it in person.

TIA

The class sounds really fun! You're lucky! (not sure about Pro stuff cause there's not one here, either )

I don't really have an answer to your question, BUT ...

Is this one of the MAC @ Nordstroms seminars or a masterclass for Pro members?

I went to a pro class in the fall and basically he stood there and did a model and we watched. We didn't need anything or do anything. It was at a MAC store and Konstantine taught it, it was cool though. He showed us pics from Milan and stuff, he had just come back from the shows there and in Paris. it also really made me want cetain products, like he showed us cool new ways of using things I wouldn't have thought of necessarily. Afterward the store stayed open and we just shopped our brains out. I had a list of things I wanted when I got there, but it all changed when I saw things he was doing and then wanted those items, so really pay attention to the brushes, etc. that he uses and see what sounds like it's something you can incorporate into your work/life.

You lucky girl! I hope they do something like that in my area.
I think the Mixing Mediums are a definite must-have. As for brushes, I it's totaly subjective. You really need to experiment for youself with those to see what shapes either work or don't work for you. For example, I have small features so I tend to prefer a smaller, compact bristle shape and long handle. With my MAC brushes, I seem to like the ones with white goat hair the best b/c I get the best color pay-off with them.

The Pro classes are demonstrations - you won't get the chance to play with makeup yourself. They will give recommendations on particular products during the session and afterwards. The store will be open to attendees for purchases after the demonstration and you can ask to see anything, not just the items demonstrated to you during the class. I'm not sure how much Pro stock they will bring with them to the demonstration if it's not being held at a Pro store. Which class is it? I can only find 2005 classes listed on macpro.com

I went to one (and I think it was Victor doing it) and he did two looks on volunteers (I think they got there early). As he did the look he said what he was doing, what he was using. As he would go along, he would stop for little buying breaks where the sales associates would go around with the last few products he used and would hand them to the people raising their hand who wanted that product. That way you won't wait until the end and not be able to remember what stuff he used that you wanted. So you get what you want as he goes along and everything is totaled up at the end. Beware though, there was kind of a frenzied atmosphere, everbody feeling like "must get. need. must have." so I was kind of shocked at how much I got as he went along.
It was fun although not as informative as I had hoped. More like encouragement to buy stuff. But hey, who am I to argue with that?

CaptainMac that sounds like the promo at Nordies we had here for Beau,.. handled that same way but we didnt get any of the good MA's from the site,.. but the regional director came out and she was pretty darn good, but did the typical smokey eye look on the model,.. though,.. our local MA Roger was there to take the stuff around and he was showing the stuff on the side,.. I bought waaaaaaay more than I should have but loved it all,....I hope we get another one of those soon,.. I kinda hope the culture bloom thing turns out to be kinda like that,....

It's a pro class held at Nordies for anyone who wants to attend. I went to what they called a pro class last year, but it was not! The class was very elementary and I was quite disappointed. It was targeted more towards someone who was learning to apply m/u. I'm hoping this class is a little more advanced.

I don't think it will be on the Pro site because it's at Nordies. It's being held 2/3 and 2/4. I think they call it Pro because they bring Pro products. They have done this once before, but I didn't attend because I was really disappointed in the first class I took. I wish they would target "something" to ppl that were experienced. I really want to learn something new-keeping my fingers crossed.
