Question curls
heyy
i recently got a hot tools curling iron for christmas, but whenever i use it the curls last for like an hour. How can i make the curls last longer and look like that messyish style that nicole richie seems to have? If that makes any sensee ehh idk i'll try to find a pic but thanks in adavance! :]

Re: curls
I think some hair types just hold curls better than others. I have naturally curly hair but when I straighten it & than curl w/a curling iron/rollers they fall out within an hour. I think most ppl use hairspray to hold curls, although it doesn't work for me.....

Re: curls
don't curl freshly washed/dried hair or it won't hold for crap. If you have clean hair, "dirty" it by applying some curl enhancing mousse and some hair spray to give it texture and help the curls hold. It will also help if you blast your hair with a cold drier after curling it to cool your hair down quickly so it doesn't gradually let the curl escape. My hair drier has a button for cold air which I use and it seems to really help.

Re: curls
definately invest in some curl enhancing mousse and to get that kind of messy look like Nichole Ritchie, just run your fingers throught them a few times

Re: curls
Whenever I do curls with either irons or tongs I use Paul Mitchell's Sculpting Lotion. Works like a charm every time.

Re: curls
Another thing, along the same lines as the cool blowdry, after unrolling the curl from the curling iron you can clip it up (with those flat duckbilled clips or whatever) and then when its cool let the clips out...

kinda like rollers...you wait til they have cooled until you take them out

Re: curls
I bought clips to hold the curls in my hair when using a curling iron. After curling, I recurl the hair back up and clamp it and keep going with the rest of my head while periodically setting them with a light hairspray. It's time intensive but it holds the curls a lot longer than w/o them. They relax over the day for me, but they're still there and just at the ends when I wake up the next day.
