goin' black!
Well, my hair is long overdue for a root touch up, but I wanna go darker. My natural hair color is a VERY dark brown (think like black coffee--near black, but still brown) but I dye it about a half shade/shade lighter. I like it, but I was recently inspired by Kim Kardashian and her black hair. I think it's so exotic! So tonight or tomorrow morning I'm making the jump!
I'll post pics...but is there anything y'all think I should know about going black? I'm not going the blue black route, just natural black. Should I be extra careful about skin staining? Any advice would be great wish me luck!

I've gotten black in my hair several times, and the skin staining is gone after a wash.

welp the dye is on my head haha...I used vaseline around my hairline to prevent staining. I only really worried about it because I plan on going out tonight, which was a bad idea since I'm going to smell like hair dye after! but oh well

Your natural hair colour (if that's what's on your icon) is absolutely gorgeous and I wouldn't go black if I were you. Even temporary black hair dyes can be quite hard to get out of your hair, and I think you might find true black a bit harsh, the richer brown tones show off your beautiful dark eyes really well and I'm not sure you'd get the same effect with black hair. If you want to try something different and a bit darker, have you thought about a deep and rich reddish/chestnut/burgundy tint through your current colour to darken it just a little bit and enrich it? I think that would be beautiful and suit your colouring better. Plus you can go to black the next time, if the really dark colour does flook good when you try it....

aw, thanks for the compliment! I actually did have a reddish tint for a while and I did like it. It was cool because it didn't really change so much, just the tint. But I jumped the gun anyway last night hahaha. I like it, but I agree it is a little harsh. It didn't come out with any blue which was good, so it's as dark as I can be without looking really unnatural.
Plus, I know it's going to fade a crapload so I'm not that worried.
But I think for sure if anything I'm going to go back to my dark brown when it starts to warm up! Thanks for the advice everyone, I will try and post pics later today cuz I wanna know what you guys think

Let's see some pictures!
Black dye is a scary thing, you can't get rid of it and it has to grow out when you want it gone. I had my hair black for over two years but growing it out wasn't bad because it's so short and my girl just touched up the roots with a darker bown to help it blend in.

I know if I want my hair to be a dark brown, I opt for a shade lighter, and it always turns out the color I want. I am in serious need of a change though. I'm getting sick of the auburn chocolate shade, I sort of want to rid of the reddish tint and go dark chocolate.

Post some pics of your new color!
