Review: Ojon Nut Oil For Hair

Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment is a unique, highly-concentrated and versatile hair rejuvenator containing 100% pure Ojon palm nut oil—the same oil used by the Miskito Indians of Central America for over 500 years. Ojon instantly hydrates and improves the condition of damaged, color-treated or processed hair without weighing it down. Fortifying, rebuilding and nourishing, it leaves hair extraordinarily shiny, silky and manageable. Ojon is color safe.

In ads for this they usually show someone with really silky, dark hair, so of course I was intrigued, anything to help my hair! Especially since I am still getting rid of damaged hair from a perm I got back in 2003! I want to keep my hair long so I keep getting trims to slowly get rid of the damaged hair. (Note to self, never get a perm again! Just use spiral rollers, argh, don't be lazy.)

I used this everyday until it disappeared. It's not really meant to be used in that way, but I wanted an intense hair conditioning treatment. =) A hair vacation.

I have to admit, after about a week the smell started to get to me. The smell is very interesting at first, smells like some sort of exotic coffee. But sometimes I just wanted to gag! Then again I was using it everyday.

So let's talk about the important part, what it did to my hair. It worked really well. I don't think it matters if it really came from a deep, dark mysterious forest somewhere in Central America (even though it was packaged in Italy?). It's plain and simple: it's a rich, nutty oil and anything like that should be good for your hair.

I highly recommend to try this because it *will* make your hair softer. It also has a really nice texture. You use the included comb not to put the product in your hair (since it has rough edges) but to "rake" the product in the container. Then you put it in your hands and it melts immediately.

I would put it all over my hair and then tie it up in a bun. I let it soak in while I took a shower.

All in all, an interesting and unique product, and the whole "exotic oil from the rainforest" wasn't just a bunch of fluff, well besides the fluff it did put into my hair. =)

Will I buy some again? Probably not for about 3 months. I do want to use it again but I want to try some other intense conditioners in the meantime.

Is this okay for all types of hair (fine, coarse) or best suited to thicker curly hair.

I think it would be good for any hair. Though you would have to apply more if you have thicker hair...

They have a line of products, this one is the most expensive.
Search Sephora.com for ojon, the link is too long to post here.. it makes the page get a horizontal scroll bar.
