::Any Germans here?:: I'm doing research on German culture for my nursing class.

We are going into cultural awareness. We will learn the way culture influences how health, illness, and pain are perceived. Also, how best to care for patients in a home or hospital environment.

My group is in charge of German(me in particular) and Indian culture. I would appreciate anyone's personal experiences or input on any of the following topics. Thanks so much!

1. Describe how pt will need to dress while in the hospital
2. Death rituals
3. Birth control
4. Contact between the pt and opposite sex caregiver
5. Hierarchy (does the male/husband make the decisions for the family/wife?)
6. Privacy issues
7. How to evaluate pain in pt(some cultures teach that a person should be stoic or uncomplainingor that pain should be tolerated)
8. Any cultural practices that would relate to someone while in the hospital or nursing home setting
