Earned my blonde streaks last night... lol
So like...
I had a craving for some new shoes, since the heels I'm using for work, aren't as nice as they used to be after daily wear heh... So i go out and drive to the outlet center in town since they have several of those cheapie shoe stores (like Famous Footwear, Payless, Etc) which are perfect places to buy shoes for work that I dont mind ruining with daily wear.
So i drive out there, get my shoes, and back. Meanwhile, my gas light had been on for a bit longer than I thought it had been. I probably should have gotten gas, but figured I could get it on the way to work in the morning (I hate pumping gas). So I get real close to home, and my car starts lurching on the hill before my turn. I thuoght maybe it was bad shifting on my part (apparently thats what happens when your out of gas), so i didn't pay attention to it, cuz it stopped when i got to level ground. I was crossing the last intersection, and when i push the accelerator down, it started doing the lurching again. I put 2 and 2 together, and realise i'm REALLY low on gas. So i dont wanna risk parking my car and not being able to start it in the morning, so i decide to go find a gas station.
The street I picked to find gas on, only has gas stations that were not in service anymore
and as i'm driving, my car totally shuts down. So i pull over and park it. Now to make things even better, I left my cellphone at home, and totally forgot about my AAA card. So i walked to the McDonalds on the corner to ask for directions to a gas station to buy a gallong of gas and bring it back to my car. The guy inside says there is a station about 4 lights down 7th street. So i figure thats not too bad (it turned out to be like 15 lights and a mile away lol). It was still light out, so i start walking.... And walking.... And walking...
After walking what felt like forever, i ask a guy walking my direction if i'm going the right direction to the station, and he says it's a few more blocks down the street near the freeway. He offers to walk with me since it's not the best section in town. He seemed nice enough, so i said why not. Rather have him with me, then be alone and walk across a group of guys. So i'm walking down 7th street with this black guy in his late 30's i guess lol. We chit chat along the way, and finally get to the station. I buy a gas can, and he fills it up, and carries it the mile back to my car.
Now apparently the gas can they sell isn't for filling up a car, so he's trying to figure out a way to make it work, and is getting gas all over his hands and shoes heh. I felt so bad =( After a few more failed attempts, i suggest that i'll go to WALMART (omg i went to Walmart
haha) and buy a funnel. I got what I needed from the store, and ended up waiting at least an hour in line to check out. They had like 4 lines open and there was a bazillion people. The 3 families in front of me must of had like 10 kids each, and were buying out the store. And then their cards were declining, and they were all having to sort through their items to reduce the amount until it cleared. I finally get out of Walmart after eternity in line, and run to my car since he said he was gonna be waiting. I guess he thought I abandoned him or something, cuz he was gone, and i had to fill my tank myself. At least I bought hand wipes for getting gas off your hands when i was buying the funnel heh, cuz i overflowed the funnel when filling my tank lol.
So I FINALLY get home, it's like 10:30pm (I left to get shoes at like 5:30). I'm dirty, my hands still smell faintly of gas, and i has blisters inbetween my toes from where my sandals rubbed.
What a day LOL...
Worst part is... I used to make fun of a friend of mine ALL the time for being dumb and running out of gas...
i agree tho.. u handled yourself very well cos i would have killed someone! (joke) i'm glad ur ok tho
