so I'm teaching myself to knit! my first project was just 4 or 5 rows of stitching. but I fashioned it into this lovely arm band:

haha. I'm just practicing right now. knitting random little scraps to practice casting on and off. when I get the knitting down really well I'll practice purling. I tried learning them together but I kept mixing them up, and for some reason my stitches got really TIGHT when I purled. so I couldn't slide the knitting along the needle anymore.

but ta-da!

if anyone knows any good knitting resources online I would appreciate it! particularly how to read knitting patterns... because I'm absolutely not ready for them yet. but when I am I really want to knit this scarf.

try www.about.com and look on the left hand side for Crafts or Knitting... (you'll figure it out) and they link you too alot of free patterns and pattern sites and also teach you right there online... good luck... crochet is easy too.... have fun and good luck with that lacey leaf scarf!!!
