Wedding Questions
Many of you lovely ladies are married here.. some of you aren't but have your own aspirations! I'm looking for ideas for an upcoming wedding.. I'm talking 1.5 yrs here... so no rush. I know I am a bit young.. but we've been together for 4 years and we just started seriously talking about it and I'm excited... we are making plans. =)

Question 1- How much does a wedding planner charge? Ballpark.
Question 2- What would you do/have you done when trying to mix two cultures together? I'm Spanish... he's Bengali. We want to go with two ceremonies and one reception. Any ideas on anything would help... also because I have to wear henna to the Bengali reception I don't know how to time it in one day.
Question 3- What type of cuisine would you serve keeping in mind some famiy members might be vegan?
Question 4- Music suggestions? My parents will want spanish, his will want bengali/hindi... we want a little mix of that and a big portion of English music... but we don't care for a swing /jazz/quartet ?
Question 5- What do you all think about true red, gold, biege for wedding colors? Does that sound classy?
Question 6- Destination weddings? Do you like them?
Question 7- Any suggestion on where to get married in Texas?
Question 8- What do you think is a good budget for a wedding? Not including rings or honeymoon.

Any questions answered, or suggestion will be highly appreciated. Post pics of any inspirations or your weddings too!! If you just want to talk about your dream wedding that would be cool too.

I can answer some of those for you! I work in event planning, and coordinate about 20 or so weddings a year.
1.Coordinator fees for full service planning are generally 10% of your budget, but it does vary. Some charge by the hour (my hourly rate is $50, and i'm in a lower price range area), some by the day if you want just day of service (expect $500 and up). These are just guesstimates, I don't know anything about Austin, but general for where I live.
2. Decide what aspects of your culture are most important to you, and include some food and music from each. You don't have to try to get in every little thing. Keep it simple.
3. Ask your caterer about Vegan dishes that compliment your region, cultures, and the themes of your reception.
4. With music, keep in mind what your guest will enjoy. You want it everyone up and dancing. Let your MC or band know what your taste are, and that you would like a little of this and that. An experienced entertainer should know how to make it fun for everyone.
5. I love it! Red, gold, and ivory were my wedding colors
6. They can be more complicated to plan, and you will probably have far less guests. If you want a smaller, more intimate ceremony with just the closest of friends and family, it would probably be great for you.
7. Not a clue
8. Do the best that you can afford without stressing yourself out, or taking on debt. It's not worth it. Be sure to discuss it in detail with your family, fiance, and anyone who may be contributing.

Hope that helps!

My husband and I were our own wedding planners, so I can't really help you with anything there. But, I just wanted to say your choice of colors is excellent!

I always wanted to get married on top of Enchanted Rock. Its in Fredricksburg..but thats a little over the top!
Some people get married in Galveston or at Moody Gardens. South Padre Island has a beautiful beach you could get married there. They also have cruises going out off the coast of texas.

Thank you.. I think the colors will be really great for us... red is the main color in Indian weddings...it's a celebration color... and one of my favorite colors. I will look into this Enchanted Rock business! Thank you both =)

P.S. I also mostly want to plan my own wedding.. simply because it sounds like a fun idea... but on the wedding day itself... I don't want to worry about details... I've seen my family and friends deal with it and it causes a lot of stress on bride or wedding party.

ClassicBeauty- I bet Oasis was a great place to get married before it burned.. I haven't been back since it was restored.
