cosmetics database + what not to buy!
so i stumbled across a really helpful website (cosmeticsdatabase.com) which allows you to type in the name of a products and itl tell you how toxic/safe it is along with the list of ingreidients explaining which can cause you harm.

Anyways, they recently did an article on what not to buy. Some of the products featured have very suprising products ,such as, the paula dorf cake mascaras that contains mercury!

Heres the URL to the report if you want to check it out :http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/special/whatnottobuy/

Wow, they have some Stila foundation on there and a L'oreal mascara I was going to try out but I think I'll leave it now!

Re: cosmetics database + what not to buy!
i think one of the dior mascara is a nine or a ten? but some of the products featured in the article contain lead! its scary bc theres certain things/ingreidients they dont have to declare..

Re: cosmetics database + what not to buy!
I didn't see anything on that list that I use *touches wood* but I was all ready to buy that mascara from ebay.

It sucks that they don't have to declare these things, I don't think there's ANY level of lead which it is safe for you to use/ingest.

Re: cosmetics database + what not to buy!
I never even thought of that!

I was surprised to see some Donna Karen stuff on the list and the L'oreal concealer but NOT the foundation.

I've been a really big fan of this database for a while... It's bookmarked along with all of my other cosmetic interests...including specktra!

(Scary stuff though, no?)

Re: cosmetics database + what not to buy!
Everything causes cancer nowadays, heh. Especially in California, or so the warning labels say

The brain is actually hard to get stuff into if it's in the blood first due to the blood-brain barrier. Things absorbed into the skin usually get into the blood system and then circulate. I don't think something on your hair would instantly get to the brain, and it might take a while to get to the brain if it even can.
