Homemade Mixing Medium
OK so I've read all the discussion about making your own mixing medium with glycerin and water but the only liquid glycerin you can get from drugstores says "avoid contact with eyes" on the warning label. Has anyone had any problems with their homemade mixing medium hurting their eyes or anything like that?

Re: Homemade Mixing Medium
the glycerin i get is from the drugstore rite aid or cvs and it says pure glycerin. you can get it from the skincare aisle or the first aid aisle. i use 1part glycerin and 3 parts water. when i prepared some i only need a small amount so i used 1teaspoon of glycerine with 3tsps of water. i was just preparing some for eyeliner.

I know how to make it but the label on all the glycerin you buy from drugstores say "avoid contact with eyes" so i was just wondering how safe it really is to use.

Re: Homemade Mixing Medium
i can only presume, cos i dont know what you bought exactly that it means dont use it as is on your eyes. if u dilute it, it should be fine. but if you're really worried, i wouldnt use it.

Mine lists "makeup removing agent" as one of its uses...hmmm

Re: Homemade Mixing Medium
I didn't have a problem with it hurting my eyes but it did grow mold pretty quickly. I stop using the homemade mixing medium and went with visine (generic) as a mixing medium and it works a lot better.
