List of companies that test on animals!!!
This is a list of companies you probably all buy from that test on animals.
Testing on animals is unnecessary and cruel. Animals have their skin burned off, have chemicals injected into their eyes that cause blindless, and are killed (often) during research.

There are plenty on companies that don't test and have great products, and that shows that testing does not need to be done. For a list of animal friendly companies please visit:
www.caringconsumer.com
Please check out the list because you will see that a lot of the animal friendly companies are companies that you have heard of and can buy their products at your regular everyday store.
Helping save animals can be as easy as switching from Covergirl to Revlon.

Wow thanks for the info. Quite a few of these brands are pretty suprising to me, especially Aussie ( thought they always said they don't test on animals...) and the Healing Garden

I know. I used to feed my cat Iams until I found out about www.iamscruelty.com
They also have a list of brands that do not test on animals on that site! Check it out!

My first instinct was a cat running around looking like RunDMC, but seriously WTF do some of these companies do with these poor animals?

Re: List of companies that test on animals!!!
If they manufacture cologne, they might spritz stuff in their eyes. There's also, IMO, a lot of stupid animal testing. I wouldn't do it myself, but I can understand testing critical medicines on animals. That I can get behind, but I can't see the point of a lot of these tests with consumer products.
The thing with these lists is that the particular brand may not be tested on animals, but the parent company tests on animals. For instance, Proctor and Gamble is one the worst when it comes to animal testing, and they own a lot of brands.
I don't think there's really a standard for labeling things with "No animal testing."

Re: List of companies that test on animals!!!
Please bear in mind that not all animal testing is "cruel" and very little can be described as "torture". In some countries, certain classes of products are required to undergo animal testing by law before they are declared safe to release to the general public.
It's also fair to say that companies putting out products which haven't themselves been tested on animals are still relying on data from safety research carried out on component ingredients which most certainly has been done on animals. The whole picture is a lot less clear cut than it first appears.
Remember though; M·A·C isn't tested on animals, it's tested on supermodels

Re: List of companies that test on animals!!!
you know i was looking at that iamscruelty.com just to see what it's all about...and i understand and agree that some of the things they do are horrible and just shouldn't happen.
but Peta advising you to feed your dog vegan dog food isn't much better. by nature, dogs are omnivores which means they need meat in their diets. there are some proteins in meat that just can't be found in anything else...and depriving your dog of that is, IMHO, cruel.

I dont.
Animal testing is not the most accurate way of testing. (From what I've heard/read so far)There's methods of testing medicine that are more exact than testing on animals.

Re: List of companies that test on animals!!!
when i first decided to try and elimate all cosmetics and skin care tested on animals from my purchases, i was stunned.
i had no idea that so many brand names were owned by companies that tested on animals.
this is part of what brought me to MAC and high end cosmetics. i wanted to use brands that didn't test... and i found that in the low end side of cosmetics there's not a lot of choice left.

Re: List of companies that test on animals!!!
that's disappointing to see.
especially considering half of those brands are available at stores like target, where some of the consumers really don't have means to shop elsewhere.
the saddest thing is, people think animal testing is as simple as putting shampoo in the animal's hair to wash it...

Re: List of companies that test on animals!!!
I'm surprised the Body Shop are still on the Caring Consumers' list - they've recently been bought over by L'Oreal, from what I hear one of the very worst offenders on the animal testing front - all my vegan friends are vetoing the Body Shop now...

Re: List of companies that test on animals!!!
I question some of the companies on the list. The reasons being that some of the companies listed are either considered moratorium companies or rolling plan companies.
Moratorium implies that the company has said they will currently not test any products on animals, however, by nature, the term 'Moratorium' implies a temporary state where they could start up again at any time.
Rolling Plan indicates the company does not use ingredients currently tested on animals, however if something is tested now, then in three to five years time, they will use it.
I feel that sometimes these lists are a bit crazy. Put companies on the list because they -might- test someday (or did)? Put companies on the list because they use ingredients that were tested on animals by another company? That's just nutty. I disagree with putting "rolling plan" companies on these lists for the same reason that I am angered by the health industry refusing to use medical knowledge gained through the tests and expiraments of "doctors" under Nazi order. What, that knowledge is now forbidden becuase it was gotten in a poor manner? That's preposterous. Knowledge, once we have it, should be used. At the very least to make any possible pain or suffering that could have occurred to gain that knowledge not in vain.

I could've sworn up and down that the PETA/Caring Consumer list does indicate moratorium companies.

Re: List of companies that test on animals!!!
Caring consumer lists some of them, in their word document/PDF version of their list, but they still list them as companies that DO test as opposed to those who DON'T.

Re: List of companies that test on animals!!!
hm. i used to work at a vet. one day a lady from PETA came in and adopted four puppies, then euthanized them in the parking lot, claiming that having pets is like having slaves.
so in situations like this, i'm not sure who to believe i buy what i need, but in no way do i support animal testing.
