Swapping lipglasses
Is it safe to swap lipglass with someone? I was thinking about trying one I saw on MUA... I just don't see that there's any way to sanitize it.

Re: Swapping lipglasses
There is no way to properly sanitize lipgloss. The only way to get an uncontaminated lip gloss is if it is BNIB (never been used even for swatching). I just don't trust that in general so I don't swap for used lip glosses.

How do you tell someone you were going to swap with that you don't want to swap anymore without being an a-hole about it?

Re: Swapping lipglasses
Yeah, swapping lipgloss could be nasty. It is like using the testers at the counters, I never do because who knows who has just run up and used it before an MA could stop them. I don't even share lipgloss with my friends, too many germies!!!

I wouldn't swamp lipglosses either ... yuck!!! I don't think I would even swamp used eyeshadows. Isn't that unsanitary? can't you get pink eye or any other eye infection from that??

Well you can sanitize powder products...not so much with liquid/cream products.

Just kindly explain that you have OCD and if you swap lipglass you will die a germ induced death.

Im sure they will be very accomodating.

I wouldn't swap l/g and as for pink eye, I would be very careful as well. One of my friend gets eye inflections and pink eyes, I don't ever share any type of eye makeup with her. Even if I can sanitize with alcohol. Honestly I've never had an eye inflection and I don't ever want to chance it. I never test eye liners or e/s (just on the back of my hand).

I would never swap l/g with anyone and prefer to purchase at a store to make sure it has never been opened or used.

Speaking of lipgloss...I hate when people try to test the lipgloss at MAC, etc. by using the cut off tip on the tester top instead of using the disp brushes. That is so gross and disgusting.

Bacteria can't live long outside of the body in an environment that isn't warm and wet (unless it's one of those bizarre deep-sea glacial ones). An eyeshadow is not a very nutritive, nurturing environment for a micro-organism. Something like a lip gloss with a lot of emollients would be a lot more alarming to me.

Perhaps just explain you've thought about it and realised there is no real way to properly sanitize lip gloss, and that you didn't really want to swap in the first place unless the item was sanitized. And like Kirsty said, you're OCD about it
