Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
Hi guys, just looking for some advice.
I started using UDPP about 6 months ago and have always suffered hayfever and watery eyes.
The last few months though I've started getting a consistent drip out of my left eye, so much so that the area has started getting sore and irritated.
I thought it was hayfever, so continued my meds for it but it is winter where I am and hayfever is not so much of an issue anymore and even on days with no other symptoms, my eye still drips! It's gotten so bad that I have to carry an extra eyeshadow and mascara with me to touch up during the day.
Then I thought, maybe it's the UDPP?
So I bought a mac paint to prime my eyes, and tried it today with no UDPP underneath.. and miraculously NO DRIP all day.
Has anyone else encountered issues with Urban Decay's Primer potion, or suggest what it could be in the product that causes it? I'm wondering if too faced's shadow insurance would be better?
TIA, Sal.

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
I have had a slight reaction recently -- no dripping, but some small almost imperceptible bumps (but I see them!) on my eyelids. I have stopped using UDPP for now, and only use it on my eyebrows where it really works to keep on my eyebrow makeup. I don't know yet if it is the UDPP on my lids, or a reaction to food or some other allergen as I never had this happen before. Will report back!

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
In my family three people use it, me and two of my cousins. One cousin has semi greasy lids like me and the other has normal skin (the cow!), she has been getting runny eyes recently and it started when she started using UDPP..she has used mine a few times and her eyes have been fine so maybe it was a dodgy batch?

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
Ooh how interesting.
My eyes have never really run before, but have recently started to as soon as I walk outside.
I thought it might be because of hayfeaver (ive never suffered from this, but just drew conclusions as summer was starting to roll in) or maybe because ive started wearing more make-up on my eyes & they wern’t used to it. But ive only started using UDPP for the past couple of months, so it may be that.
Whats strange is sometimes one of my eyes run (very rarely is it both) or somedays my eyes are normal.
Hmm, I might do some tests.

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
Today I experimented- i put UDPP only on the crease and nowhere near my eye, and put mac paint over the rest- no drip.
I think that is the answer ladies- UDPP has caused my drippy eyes!
So the new question is, what ingredient is doing it? I'm going to try TFSI to see if that is better.
Thanks for all your replies!

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
I had a funny reaction to UDDP, it made my eyes watery and i thought it was just my hayfever as well. Ive given up usuing it because i just get watery eyes, i use a paint pot as a base now and its stopped them being so sore.
although i have very sesitive eyes, i cant even put my chanel foundation on properly because i get really sore eyes and have to keep it away from my eyes
maybe it was a dodgy batch of UDDP? because i know so many people who use it but have had no problem.

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
Well this is my first tube of it so not sure whether it could be a bad batch or if it's just the chemicals in it. Needless to say I won't be repurchasing to find out!
When this lot runs out I'll try TFSI I think to see if there is a difference.

It's really interesting to find out other people have had similar experiences with UDPP. When I first started using it (about 6 months ago too) my eyes got really watery and felt extremely tired.
So I gave it a rest for several days, then put it only in the crease instead of all over the eye lid. That seemed to work. No tired or watery eyes.
So I kept doing that for a while and then slowly started putting it over the whole eyelid and brow bone and it's been great, no reactions.
Perhaps my skin toughened up and became more tolerant of it. Perhaps it's how it is applied. I always apply it very softly with my fingertips, maybe I was a bit rougher when I first started out. Who knows!
Good luck with TFSI, I'll be interested in your results

Runny eye problems...
another thread above with lots of people with watering eye problems! maybe UDPP somehow dries out the eyes (can't see how it would affect tear production, but I don't like it coz it makes my lids to dry and shadows harder to blend)

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
Here's the TFSI ingredients
Shadow Insurance Ingredients: Isododecane,Talc, Cyclopentasiloxane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Glyceryl Triethylhexanoate, Polyethylene, Trihydroxystearin, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Isopropyl Lanolate, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Propylene Carbonate, Dimethicone, PEG-40 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopherol. (+/-): Mica, Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499). Net Weight: 11 g/ 0.35 Oz
and the UDPP ingredients
Ingredients:
Isododecane, Talc, Cyclopentasiloxane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Trihydroxystearin, Triethylhexanoin, Isopropyl Lanolate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Dimethicone, PEG-40 Stearate, Propylene Carbonate, Phenoxyethanol, Cera Alba (Synthetic Beeswax), Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Methicone, Isobutylparaben
May Contain:
Mica, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77163 (Bismuth Oxychloride)
I've highlighted the ingredients that the two products share in red...if your eyes don't react to TFSI, but they do to UDPP, it would probably be something in UDPP that TFSI doesn't have, or that the UDPP contains more of something (the closer to the beginning of the list, the more of that ingredient is in the product) than TFSI, which is irritating to your eyes.
...although I just read the MSDS for Bismuth Oxychloride, and it seems that it's a known potential skin irratant. http://www.sciencelab.com/xMSDS-Bism...loride-9923103 check the MSDS for yourself. It's entirely possible that because it's listed as "may contain" in both products, it may be present in some batches, but not in others, or the more likely scenario, it's present in higher quantities in some batches of the product, a quantity which may be extremely irritating to your eyes. I've personally been using UDPP for a few years, and have never had an eye irritation problem, I'd be very curious to see if those of you who've had issues may have products from the same batch or not...
Ok...I'm done being a nerd now...sorry...
HTH a little...

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
No that is so helpful, thankyou!
I haven't gotten around to purchasing the TFSI yet to compare but will update here once I have.
I have read about the dangers of bismuth, I believe it's in BE mineral foundation (which I reacted to) and have since changed to everyday minerals (no reaction) so I think I might be sensitive to it.
Seeing as the ingredients are so similar I might be best looking for a primer with less irritating ingredients.

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
I went searching around the internet, and found these primers that don't appear to contain bismuth...of course it's entirely possible that I blew by it as an ingredient in one or two, but because it's usually at the end of an ingredient list, that's where I focused. GL!
Ulta.com - Cosmetics, Fragrance, Salon and Beauty Gifts
Sephora: Amazing Cosmetics Eye Shadow Primer: Concealer/Shadow Base
Sephora: Benefit Cosmetics F.Y. Eye: Concealer/Shadow Base
Sephora: Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer: Concealer/Shadow Base
Sephora: Tarte Lifted™ Natural Eye Primer with Firmitol™: Concealer/Shadow Base
Sephora: Laura Geller Spackle Trio: Primer The eye spackle is free of bismuth, as is the rest of it...
Sephora: Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow Primer: Concealer/Shadow Base
Sephora: Perfekt Eye Perfection Gel: Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Sephora: NVEY ECO Organic Erase: Concealer
Sephora: DuWop Sub-Surface: Oil/Blemish Control
Oh yeah, BTW, I meant to tell you, because it's possible that the bismuth is what's causing your reaction, you may want to consider just asking for a sample of the TFSI at Sephora, instead of buying the whole tube. Just explain that you want to make sure you're not going to react to it before you go and buy it. They'll be happy to sample it for you.

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
Perhaps you have a blocked canal on that eye.
Because it is strange that is only one eye that is watery

Re: Watery Eyes possibly due to UDPP
I had really HORRIBLE watery eyes for awhile. So much so, that it would actually run up onto my lid, and I'd lose like half my eyeshadow and half my eyeliner on my lower lash line.
For me, it ended up NOT being the UDPP, but the MAC fast response eye cream. When I stopped using it, the watering away. Unless it's really cold or windy, but I think that's more because of allergies.
