Hell...you can do a smokey eye with just about any colors you want. I've got green eyes, so I love doing smokey purples and pinks...

Re: Best combos.for smokey eye
I'm not too familiar with UD, but here is a video link for a very easy smokey eye by MAC:
M·A·C Cosmetics | The Smoky Eye with Luc
MSF Natural in Light(base)
Teddy Eye kohl(blended at lashline and lined bottom inner rim)
Satin taupe e/s(all over lid and blended to under eye area)
Smut e/s(outer corner)
Mascara X in Black X
Woodwinked e/s(inner corner)
Love this look! Hope that helps!

Re: Best combos.for smokey eye
I have hazel eyes, too and love purples... I love Estee Lauder Iris Pearl and Amethyst together which are both purples, or Lauder Smokey (brown-grey) on the lid with Amethyst in the crease. if I want a more dramatic look, I'll use MAC Fertile in place of Amethyst, it's a bit darker or use the Fertile along the lashlines (upper and lower). For a different look sometimes I'll use the Smokey again but with Lauder Berry Ice in the crease.

I agree with this, you can't do smokey eyes with any colours, as long as you deepen the outer v and smudge the lower lashline. I tend to do mostly green and purple smokey eyes as I have honey brown eyes with some green and gld flecks...I find green especially really helps bring them out. I use Graphology for my purple and Plumage for my green smokey looks (either in outer v or on the lid blended up)

Re: Best combos.for smokey eye
How I do my smoky look: - Espresso on the lid and lower lashline as a base eye shadow.
- Wedge in the crease to to blend out harsh lines.
- Line top and bottom lashline with a little bit of MAC Eye Khol in Smoulder, then smudge out with a Q-tip or smudge brush.
- Carbon on upper and lower lashline to set liner.
- A little Satin Taupe over the lid to add shimmer.
- Highlight brow bone with matte shadow close to skintone.

Re: Best combos.for smokey eye
Ahh...well, in that case, a nice basic one is put blackground pp all over the lid and slightly above the crease with a fluffy brush (something stiffer like the 217, as opposed to the 224), use the same brush to apply a black shadow (I usually use black tied, but really any black will do) over the pp. Clean off the brush (or grab a new one) and blend the line above your crease...this part is really up to you, if you want to pull the color upward more, or out, whatever you thinks looks best on you. Use a fluffy blending brush (like the 224) to apply your favorite highlight to your browbone, and down to seamlessly meld into the black, and your inner corners...Vanilla e/s is my fave for this, but again, personal preference. Line your eyes with a soft (texture-wise) black liner like Feline or Smolder. I always do my waterline as well as upper and lower lashline, and I use the liner to add a little extra depth to my outer V. Smudge the lower lashline until you're happy with the look, add a crapload of mascara (yes, that's a technical term...LOL), and your eyes are beeeeeeeeeeautiful! It takes longer to write than it actually does to do...it takes me about 5 minutes to get the whole thing done...10 if my liner's being finicky. HTH!

Re: Best combos.for smokey eye
I love those looks when girls do a black on the lid and then graduate up to another colour (brown or plum or whatever) then into their highlight. really adds interest to the smokey look.

Re: Best combos.for smokey eye
For Halloween I was a Referee, I did:
Phloof (really lightly) as my highlight
Black greasepaint stick as base (blended up to meet highlight)
cinderfella (wet) on the lid
& some lashes
Girl it WAS HOT!!! I fell in love with phloof again...LOL

Re: Best combos.for smokey eye
Carbon eyeshadow with Black Tied to blend it out. Nylon is my favorite brow highlighter, and I even like it it on my lid or inner corners.

i agree, for a black smokey eye, that is a great way to go.. or use beauty marked to blend it for something a bit different (the red barely shows up on me anyway though i wish it would)

Re: Best combos.for smokey eye
^^ if i really put time into it and use a red base, i can make it show up (i used to dip my brush in visine which made it show up more but idk if that is safe for your eyes!)

Re: Best combos.for smokey eye
Although it was LE, I love the outrageous eye mineral trio from Red She Said for a smokey look with the bright purple in the crease, the dark purple on the lid and then I use a small amount of carbon close to the lashline and then I blend, blend, blend to create a nice gradient.
