Changing/enhancing lipstick colors w/lipmix and lip erase?
Organized my stash the other day and unearthed some lipsticks that I haven't used in a long, long time. When I tried them on, I could understand why! Some are waaaaaay too light---Snob, for example. Others are waaaaaay too dark---like Amorous and Odyssey.

Yes, I know I could swap them but I keep thinking---I wouldn't want to wear a lipstick someone else has used so I don't feel comfortable swapping. I could also B2M them but it seems like such a waste.

So I'm thinking of playing. I saw EnKore's YouTube video on melting lipsticks into a palette. Thinking of melting just a little bit of Snob with Odyssey and seeing what happens. Worst case scenario---I ruin the lipsticks but still have the empties for B2M.

Then I was on the MACPro site, looking at Lip Erase. Maybe Lip Erase will sufficiently cover my pigmented lips and allow me to wear lighter shades like Snob---or even some nudes or colors that clash with my natural lips. Am I along the right track thinking this? What color would be best? Pale or Dim? (I'm NW20).

And then I saw the Lipmixes and now I wonder if they'd be right to help make these colors more user-friendly. Or if they'd enhance my current shades---sometimes I like a lipstick but wish it was a frost---and I don't always want to wear lipgloss over lipstick. Which Lipmix might do what I want? (I think there's a white frost...) And could I melt Lipmix in with the lipstick to lighten or darken the color?

And does the gloss Lipmix just change the texture of a lipstick? Can that be melted with the lipstick into something different and new?

BTW, I don't like to use lip liners under lipstick. For some bizarre reason, I prefer them under gloss and then I fill in the entire lip, not just go around the edges. I think a dark lipliner under light lipstick can look tacky, especially when the light wears off and you end up with a two-toned mouth.

Again, my worst offenders here are Snob, Odyssey and Amorous. Would like to try to make them work somehow. Any input (even if you say I'm nuts and should just B2M them) is welcome. Thanks much!

Re: Changing/enhancing lipstick colors w/lipmix and lip erase?
I would just dab Lipmix on the back of my hand, and mix the l/s with the lipmix (all on the back of my hand to warm the color) until you reach your desired shade. I don't rec. heating everything up and using lipmix to change l/s shades--because if you add too much, you've just wasted a bunch of l/s and Lipmix and created another mess. Lipmix is meant for playing, bending, changing colors, a bit at a time. It was not made for ginormous makeup overhauls IMHO. Just have fun and mix your colors on your hand or an empty palette.

Bummer! I just tried to order Lip Erase and it's out of stock at MACPro.com. I ordered the White Frost Lipmix, however, and hopefully it will be fun to play with.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I am an NW 20 and found Amorous mixed with Sophisto (if you've got it) makes the prettiest shade... like wearable plummy pink pretty for our skin tone...HTH
Don't know about MACpro stuff so I can't help there :-(

BTW, I really love your squirrel!!

How did you melt them? Microwave? Stove top? I'm curious since I have a couple lipsticks I'd like to revamp too

Re: Changing/enhancing lipstick colors w/lipmix and lip erase?
Here are some YouTube videos from EnKore about how to melt lipstick. I don't have a gas stove so I used a candle instead. Definitely use a stainless steel measuring cup as a spoon is too small and too messy.

I overfilled my jar (a MAC sample jar w/black lid) with two lipsticks; I think one lipstick per jar would be more appropriate.

Good luck! I had fun doing this and at least I get some use out of the lipsticks instead of just having to B2M them.
