Question Wanted: The Perfect YLBB MAC Lippies
Hello everybody,

I'm so happy to have found this board !!!!

Please, excuse my bad English, I hope you'll understand me, though, and could give me some advice.

I'm desperately looking for my personally perefct shade of MAC lippies for that YLBB look.
My next MAC counter is quite far away and I have to order the products online without trying or seeing them before, so I depend on you advice and expert knowledge!

I'm a NC20 skin type (using studio fix) with black hair, my lips are medium pigmented.
I love MAC's POSEY blushcreme and prefer this Schneewittchen style (think you'd say Snow-white) which looks great since I'm a Winter Type.

Unfortunately, I have difficulties in finding the perfect shade of YLBB lipstick. I can't opt for a finish and a shade and I'm still wavering about some colours.

1. What do you think is the most natural looking finish: I think no lip is glowing and gleaming like this LUSTRE finish, though the colours are very beautiful, the finish is too glossy for me and does not stay put for a longer time. I only would use it in the evening when going out.

I'm not sure if SATIN, AMPLIFIED or MATTE are the most natural finishes. You know, it should lokk really natural and "unmade".

2. As for the choice of colours I would like to know which colours you would recommend for each type of finish, for LUSTRE, too .

i also wanted to know what's the difference between BRAVE and FAUX, would you recommend them to me ? Does BRAVE contain a pearly shimmer and is this shimmer very unnatural ?
Doesn't FAUX look like too pinky ?

What about COSMO is it perfect, or is there an alternative colour from the amplified range ? I've got FAST PLAY, but I think that is slightly too dark for mmy lips.

From the LUSTRE range, at the MAC counter they recommend HUG ME, but that is a bit too fleshy/beigy for my taste.

I hope you experts could help me to find out the perfect shade and finish for my dream lips !!

Thank you so much for helping a beginner !!

Re: Wanted: The Perfect YLBB MAC Lippies
For something longer lasting than a lustre you might try Honeylove in the Mattes or Cherish in the Satins. As far as gloss, some lustres have more shimmer to them than others while some are more creamy, so you can get some that I think you will not feel are too glossy....but you are right none of them will last very long. Buoy-o-buoy (LE) would be a good one to try. From the permanent lustres consider Jubilee and Freckletone. The problem with giving people suggestions for MLBB shades is that it really depends on what *your* lips look like, but I hope this helps some.

Re: Wanted: The Perfect YLBB MAC Lippies
Thank you so much winthrop44.

I've just visited MAC's HP to take a look on your recommendations, but I found those colours far too beigy/fleshtoned for my lips.

As far as I told you, my lips a medium pigmented with a slightly rosy-blue undertone.

Therefore, I would like to know if BRAVE or FAUX could come close to my lipcolour or if COSMO could also be worth trying.

Which one of those are the most natural considering finish and colour. ?

My idea is too have just the perfect lip, and that no one could see that I'm wearing any lipstick.

Please, help me since I'm going on holiday soon and wanted to order "my" perfect lippie in advance.

Re: Wanted: The Perfect YLBB MAC Lippies
Brave is an okay mid-tone beiged pink that looks a little grey/off on me but I am warmer toned than you. It could possibly work better for you. It, like most Satins, is a bit drying tho. Cosmo is a much brighter obvious lip color than what you're looking for IMO. Faux I have not tried for years so I can't comment with any accuracy. Buoy-o-buoy actually looks pinker on the lips than its swatch and I would still recommend it - it was part of a rather cool-toned collection. I would also recommend Viva Glam V, a neutral pink, although it does have some pearl which you may object to, and Mellow Mood which just came out with the Electroflash collection. Mellow Mood is creamier looking/less shimmery than VGV. You might want to check the swatches on Nordstrom as well as the MAC site:

M·A·C Lipstick - LIPSTICK - Nordstrom

M·A·C Viva Glam Lipstick - LIPSTICK - Nordstrom

Honestly I think your best bet is to put off picking a MAC color until you can get to a counter and just choose a color from a more accessible line that you can see in person before your vacation. As I mentioned "MLBB" is a very variable term depending on your lips. Many people on Makeup Alley describe Syrup as MLBB in reviews, but it's nothing like that on me. It could be on you. You might want to also read Makeup Alley reviews and pictures and check out the swatch forum on here if you haven't already done so. If you can see some comparison shots with shades you have seen in person that may help.
