Inserting an image is a very simple task. The code to change the appearance of your posts is called BBCode. The forum will not accept HTML as a language to alter the appearance of your posts.

To insert an image into your post all you need to so is use the [img] [/img] tags.

You will open the tag with [img] then you will enter the URL of the image you wish to link, then we will close the tag with [/img] The image MUST be hosted for it to appear, it will not appear if you link from something on your desktop. So it will look something like this:

[img]www.myphotos.com/my_image.jpg[/img]

There should no spaces within the tag.

If you use the Specktra.Net Forum gallery to upload your photos, it automagically gives you the entire code to insert into your post for your image to appear inline.

If you want to put a pic from another site just make sure it ends in jpg, jpeg, gif etc... Otherwise the picture may not show up. To get the corrrect URL for the image it is usually best to right click on the picture, click on view image and that will bring up the image in it's own screen and that will show the proper URL for the image.
The only time you don't need to do this if you are using a site like Specktra where they display a code for you.

Here's a step by step on it using the Specktra.net Gallery

First go to the gallery link in the upper navbar and then click upload:

Then click browse, and select your file to upload:

Then click on where in the album you want to upload it, if it's a FOTD then you want to upload it to "Member Albums":

Then click on upload at the bottom of the page, once it has uploaded it automagically spits out the BBcode, copy and paste this into your message to make the image appear inline:

I want to add to this if I may?

Those who use photobucket:
You can make clickable thumbnails of your images by checking them in your albums then going to the bottom of your photobucket screen and clicking 'generate html and img codes'.

Then, on the next page, choose the 'clickable thumbnails for message boards' option, click, copy, and come back over here and paste.

There is a way to do it yourself but unless you're comfortable with coding the easiest way is to just let photobucket code them all and copy and paste them over here!

If you post your pics through Specktra they’ll (of course) stay up longer than the ones in photobucket. Plus you can see them at work if your job blocks them (like mine).
