Pearl or Satin Varnish to put on brush handles?

I just got done marking my brushes and I want to put some sort of varnish over it so it sticks.

I have a Pearl one that I can spray and a satin one I'd have to paint on.

I marked the brushes with "pure gold" paint, which some of you crafty people might know of.

Any ideas?

p.s. I want to put it on the entire brush handle.

I like the sound of the pearl one although I like gold with a satin finish too.

I would go with the spray just for ease and an even coat, painting onto a brush is a lot harder than it seems!
