I love the one with Alta Moda, but... I know Cult of Cherry is going to kick my ass. What is a girl to do?

Re: MAC - Lustre Twins Discussion
Finally, the brown truck arrived... I got my lusty twins. They are pretty.
Ripe & Ready is a pretty, bright pink coral. I only used one swipe & that was enough color for me. I love the lighter top coat color.
Custom Rose is a pretty plum rose on me.
Pink Air is a light dusty natural pink, great for everyday.
I have 2 of the older ones which were never too drying on my lips but the new ones are not dry feeling at all. I hardly even feel it on my lips. Its so awesome how it stays & stays but not all over your glass or coffee cup yay!
My favorite color is still Fully Charged - a gorgeous medium girly pink

You're lucky! My package came at work so I put it on and at first it was a nice color but it started turning into a brightish pink, it was so weird. No matter how hard I tried to get it off it wouldn't budge so I had to go home at lunch to get a wipe to get it off! Too bright for my office. I like that it stayed on, but not when I wanted it to come off
I'm not giving up though, I'll try it again...at home.

I have a natural plum base to my lips so maybe thats why. Maybe try just a real thin swipe. Well at least you know they stay I hope you end up liking it.
btw - I use MAC's gentle off eye & lip remover, it makes my skin really smooth afterward.

Re: MAC - Lustre Twins Discussion
So I went to my local freestanding store and bought the boss brown...when I got home and opened it boss brown was on one side and a shimmery clearish color called mirror was on the other. I thought this was supposed to have a pink color on the other side? Did I get a dud?

Its the old version. You wanted the new stuff with the colored gloss & they gave you the one with the clear

Re: MAC - Lustre Twins Discussion
Does anybody know how the shades change when you put the top coat on them? I've been checking the Product Swatches page but ofcourse they are with the lip colour on one side and top coat next to it.
For example, does Ripe and Ready go lighter after adding Soft Lush on top? How does Red Flame change after adding Orange Flicker?
Thanks any feedback would be appreciated.

I can actually answer this question!!!
I got Red Flame/Orange Flicker and to me, once layered, you have a dupe of Port Red.
I am *so happy* with this combo!!

Is the colour a blue based red or like an orangey warm red? I don't think a blue based red would suit me.
Thanks

i'd say the lipstick side by itself is quite neutral (neither blue based nor yellow based), but when you layer the gloss on top, it's defintely on the warm side

I got my Ripe & Ready in the mail yesterday. Super gorgeous coral pink shade... and i_luv_mac, yes the Soft & Lush top coat totally softens the brightness of Ripe & Ready. I don't think I'd ever wear Ripe & Ready alone without the top glaos because its quite vibrant on its own. But with the gloss over it, its absolutely stunning! Also, I've noticed that even as the gloss "wears off" the color on the lips stays that softer shade & does not revert back to a super bright shade. HTH!

No it's definitely a orangey warm red. Even the base by itself seems more warm than cool, to me.

Re: MAC - Lustre Twins Discussion
I picked up Ripe and Ready too. Didn't think I would be interested in any of these and now I have 5 of them. Wore the Ripe and Ready to work with a little bronzer and the new Dior Iconic mascara. Perfect office casual look for this N2/red hair/green eyes MAC addict. Hope they keep these around.

Re: MAC - Lustre Twins Discussion
I haven't found my Pink Air/White top to be too drying on my lips. The only thing is that the staying power of pink air only really lasts towards the outer half edge of my lips, but it does stay on until I remove it with makeup remover! Any tips on how I get it to stay on the inner part? is it because it's naturally more moist there?

i wonder if you're applying it too thick in the center of your lips. then it wouldn't dry enough to set. then when you put the gloss on top, since it hasn't set, it wears off.
as long as your lips are dry when you're applying it, and you're applying an even, medium layer (not too thin, not too thick), and you're waiting the full 1-2 minutes for it to set, you should be good. it doesn't matter that your lips are more moist in the center since the whole point of the product is to wear thru eating/drinking.

Re: MAC - Lustre Twins Discussion
Wow! I would like to try one now! So I can give my boyfriend kisses without him complaining of getting glitter all over him. Hahahaha.
But does the gloss come off? Or not at all? If it does, then there would be no point hahahaha.

the glosses do come off. the whole point of these is that they are long wearing LIPSTICKS. the lipstick color comes off. you need to reapply the gloss.

Thats what Im saying, LOL. Like...ur gonna have to reapply SOMETHING, sometime throughout the day. It'd be cool if they could do a shiny creamy longwear, so you wouldnt have to reapply anything.
But still, I think its better than nothing, to have color on ur lips all day. lol

Re: MAC - Lustre Twins Discussion
^^ That's true.
I guess I won't be checking it out after all. Hahahaha. I'll stick to my regular glosses. They both kiss off anyways.

Re: MAC - Lustre Twins Discussion
I loved these lipsticks so much! I went in yesterday and they are without a must-have for any makeup lover. My grandma tried Red Reflection/Mirror and immediately said "I'll take it!" because it looks gorgeous on her. I tried Boss Brown/Slave to Pink and it lasted me all afternoon, so she picked that one up too. I'm going to get Pink Air/ White Top.

Re: MAC - Lustre Twins Discussion
Concertina or anyone else that owns red flame/orange flicker, how does red flame look without the orange flicker over it? I would like to know how the color looks on its own.
I have Perennial Rose from the old Pro longwear line and I love the color on its own (it came with the clear l/g anyway) so I am just wondering how the new ones hold up without the tinted l/g. Any input/opinion whould be great TIA!

the lipstick end of the new ones are the exact same as the ones in the permanent line, just with the addition of some new colors, so they'll wear the same.
