Re: MAC - MAC for Manish Arora Discussion
I have all of the shadow and blushes, but I don't even care. I still want it all. MAC is pure, evil genious!
That is the best packaging MAC has ever come up with.

Re: MAC - MAC for Manish Arora Discussion
I would love the pallet from this collection - so cute and full of lovely bright colours!
Is it being released in the UK (sorry i know i could check, just wondering if any of you super knowledgeable ladies would know off-hand?)

Thats what I was thinking! I saw the pictures like "Ooook so someone had some extra tubes left over from NeoSciFi" lol.
But anyway, I'm going to have to go with the minority on this one and say I don't like the packaging. I think the palette is really pretty, but the colors aren't too exciting since they aren't new, so I dont know if I can really justify buying it. I think the other designs are just tacky and they could have done more to make it look better. Even if the lipstick tubes would have been electric blue or hot pink it would have made such a difference, in my opinion. The only thing I may buy is the girl about town l/s but only because I was already planning on getting it. I tend to try to collect the le lipsticks, so even though I don't like the packaging, I dont mind buying it for my little collection

Re: MAC - MAC for Manish Arora Discussion
Thankfully I actually wanted to get pink swoon so I can wait a few months and pick it up with this collection as I love the packaging so much. I love so much of this collection but I really can't justify another massive haul espcially since i've so many lipsticks and glosses going to waste and i've all the colours in the pallette bar going bananas. Least i'll have one piece to remember this collection by, that's if it doesn't sell out before I get my hands on it.

I don't like it either. I was imagining something more sophisticated and chic like Dress Camp was.

Re: MAC - MAC for Manish Arora Discussion
I don't think people understand the packaging or his deisigns. Its not chic b/c that is not what Manish is about. He uses unique and crazy designs for his collections. His inspiration comes from the Hindu Gods and goddesses and his backround. That is why it is so bright and vivid. I think the lil rhinestones represents the 'bindi' or the third eye b/c that is what his models wear when they are on the runway, either on their forehead or it is incorporated into the outfit.
Dress Camp's theme was chic and sleek b/c that is what it was representing.
So I don't think its fair to compare the two.
Just my 2 cents. But each to their own.

complete agreement here. It is supposed to be a fun bright collection, like Heatherette, only with a Hindu twist. If you want something more formal and less whimsical, probably the Ungaro collection is your cup of tea.

I totally agree with you. That was informative. But it's exactly because I prefer chic that I liked Dress Camp better. I don't know much about Manish, so of course I was imagining it to be something it probably wasn't going to be. I'm not hating on the packaging. It's gorgeous, just not for me.
And that means more for you right?

I actually really loved Heatherette. I think it has something to do with knowing the designer's style. I obviously don't know Manish so I imagined it to be something it wasn't, but I knew Heatherette to be fun and crazy but of a different kind, so I loved it. I do think the Manish palette is gorgeous and very unique, but it isn't for me because I do prefer chic designs and such, call me crazy, but Heatherette (even though not "chic") fits my style while Manish is too unique for me. Ungaro isn't my thing either. It all boils down to preference.
AND! That means more for you and GlamYOURus!

Re: MAC - MAC for Manish Arora Discussion
So I didn't want anything from this collection.
...Until I saw the packaging! I happen to LOVE it and now I'm going to have to get at least one thing-I'm going to see what the Manish l/s and l/g look like swatched, and then I'll decide which one gets to come home with me Hehe!

This is exactly why I expected more. I think the design was somewhat of a cop out, and considering his crazy styles, colors, prints, and designs, I think it could have been more creative. It's pretty, but just not what I hoped for. It's kinda like Martha Stewart making a hand print turkey for Thanksgiving. It's cute, but its something easily done and (I hate to sound harsh) unoriginal.
The palette is cute, but I wish the colors were different. After taking a second look, I still may buy it, but my feelings about the design remain the same
edit: (curse you, blown up swatches...I want that hot pink lipglass...and ooooh how much I dislike the blush design, but I still may have to get pink swoon)

I kinda agree. But if you are a Manish fan, you probably expected an elaborate design of some sort. Because the intensity of his design and collections should come through the design of his MAC products, right? But, its not entirely his collection, MAC has a part in this as well. After all, its a collaboration.
I think the design of everything is marvelous. But if I had anything neg to say, it would be that I would have anticipated an 'OM' sign or crazy rainbow colors splattered all over the palette instead of tiny rhinestone hearts that you can find at a craft store. So that part I agree on. And it can be handmade right at home. It looks like they are just glued on. But regardless, it is still pretty imo.
