Hmmm. I guess I am thinking of the old Ungaro days- intense and colorful and opulent is what I remember- perhaps Ungaro is not the same anymore?
When is the Manish Arora collection coming out- or are you just saying that it would be a good collection........?

Re: MAC - Ungaro Collaboration Discussion
I think Ungaro has become a little more settled in his design style. Nothing wrong with it, just not my cuppa.
Manish Arora is an up and coming (well, pretty much arrived) designer that uses his native India for inspiration for his designs. They manage to be colorful and whimsical, without becoming caricatures of the culture that influences them. I love his work and can't wait for this collection. I'm hoping that there will be some Team Blue approved colors in it.

*faints*
OMG India is one of my passions when it comes to fashion, color, and makeup.
I nearly fell off the chair laughing when I found Manish Arora's site. This stuff is right up my alley.
LOL
I just love the theatrical flair- and believe it or not, I have designed and worn clothing very similar to some of his designs! (yes THAT way out and over the top).
So when is this coming out? I hope they make this mainstream- I want to get some really edgy unique stuff.
Ungaro used to have some amazing stuff- but then again, I used to really love that design house during some of the most creative genius that they had.
I made quite a few patterns of some of His signature patterns from Vogue at the time. They were masterpieces of design.
But then again, I still wear Diva (no perfume comes close to this in performance and uniqueness), and my husband and son both love two other Ungaro fragrances and to this day nothing tops those for either of them as well.
The new Ungaro perfume that I just sampled a few months ago gagged me and I hated it .

Re: MAC - Ungaro Collaboration Discussion
This collection seems like it could be more classic pastels as mentioned earlier regarding 'vivid pastels.' Whereas Manish Arora would be bright and crazy.

I like pastels too, but the often tend to be really chalky, so I will reserve any decisions when I get to see the line up- of course, if it is Nordstroms only, who cares, anyway? I won't be able to get most of it if any.
But Manish Arora- if that is mainstream MAC, I would definitely be interested in seeing that one. ;D

He used to design some of the most fabulous things- but that was some years ago now.
Very interesting unique and feminine stuff, but with intense colors, drama and vibrancy.
I am a clothing designer as well as constructor so I really appreciated his complex and interesting designs.
His fragrances are unlike anything else on the market- men or women. AMAZING and intense.
I have not seen his stuff in recent years, though. Most likely someone else completely different has taken over the House of Ungaro by now anyway.

Re: MAC - MAC for Ungaro Discussion
Not really interested sad to say, I don't know the designer and I'm not into this kind of fashion. I may check out some of the colors, but I'm thinking I will stick to the collections I was interested in when I first heard of them.
Betsey Johnson collection? I'd be all over that see?

Re: MAC - MAC for Ungaro Discussion
If this collection is full of pastels, I will be all over it. As much as I love brights, I love pastels too, and love pairing them together. I can't wait to see what this one is all about.

I am so praying for pastels because it would give me a reason to pass over this! I've just never been a big pastels girl, always about some explosion or intense color!

You with so many blues from NN and Cool Heat, I would be surprised if they come up with some.
OH dear in heaven, what am I saying. Of course there will blues somewhere in all these collections, bound to be.

Well, the Ungaro I used to love for years was like a very sophistcated Betsey Johnson in many ways. I have not seen Ungaro stuff in a while, so it could have been taken over by someone else heading up the House of Ungaro like all of the rest of the famous designers do (for ex, Karl Lagerfeld used to work for Chanel, didn't he?). In that case, I wonder who headed up the Ungaro designs for the 15 years I liked it?......... ;D

Sounds like a snore, but who knows.....

Re: MAC - MAC for Ungaro Discussion
I'm excited about this collection, especially since the fall/winter 08 fashion show included Liya and Chanel- so hopefully the pastels are WOC friendly.
Plus, Is a violet-lavender lippie too much to ask for?

Re: MAC - MAC for Ungaro Discussion
Here´s a link to the ready-to-wear collection of this fall:
Emanuel Ungaro Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear Collection on Style.com: Complete Collection
it looks like a chic collection, maybe with the perfect gray? and with a light coppery-pink lipstick? I would love some pastels, like getting the Dance-collection all over again!

Yes, I was thinking of dead models walking. I couldn't imagine carrying colors that pale. Someone put some blush on that model, STAT.
