Re: MAC Mineralize Powder Foundation Discussion
I am really excited about the MF. I am NC 25 in Studiofixfluid (it oxidizes a little on me too), now I wonder, will the Light or the Medium be right for me? I believe there is also also a Light Medium in between (Could not find it at Nordies HP)?

So do you think that this stuff is suitabe for dry skin?

I'm NC25 in a few of the other foundations and I have the light shade. It is 'just right' right now coming out of the dead of winter, but if this stuff continues to work out, i'll probably need light-medium at some point in the summer. I do think the medium would be too dark for sure. I really do think this foundation will darken up a little more once it's on seeing as it's a powder.

Re: MAC Mineralize Powder Foundation Discussion
I bought the Mineralize loose in Medium via Nordstrom. I think the container is weird...the top reminds me of a black pacifier handle and the sponge refill (included) reminds me of a Today contraceptive sponge. Some of the powder tends to "poof" out" when I reattach the capplicator back on the container, which is annoying.

So overall, I'm less than thrilled with the packaging. But I do like the powder foundation itself. It looks good just over moisturizer for light coverage, but I like it even more lightly brushed over Hyperreal with the 275. (I just don't like using a sponge for loose powder application.) The combo of Mineralized Loose and Hyperreal gets my skin as close to flawless as possible without looking like I have a ton of foundation on, and that's saying something since I have an uneven fortysomething skintone. If MAC can refine the packaging somewhat, I'll buy it again.

I have dry skin & this is perfect. It doesn't cake even if you have like dry patches. I did notice this a bit with my BE, but not with this.

Re: MAC Mineralize Powder Foundation Discussion
I am having trouble finding a brush that I like for concealing with the Mineralize loose. I am using the 194 but does anyone have another suggestion? Also I am starting to warm up to the caplicator.

I don't know if it has a number, but I'm using the flat one that comes with the BE bisque multitasking minerals. I have a hard time using any other brush now.

final thoughts on this stuff: better as a finishing powder than a foundation...but i like a really polished look, so mineral powders have never really been my forte.

If you want to stick with MAC I would suggest the 182. If you want to look at other great, cheaper brushes check these out:

Alima 25:

Aromaleigh's silky smooth taklon kabuki:

Many people (just not me, lol) also love Everyday Minerals flat top and long handled kabuki:

I'm so excited about this being released in the UK. It will be great for summer and humid climates when liquid foundation can feel greasy and sticky.

Re: MAC Mineralize Powder Foundation Discussion
Baaaah.... I finally got one in Light Medium (NC25-30 in the winter, NC30 in the summer) and have been loving it so much I wanted to share how great it is with my sister. I was helping her do her m/u before going to work (she stopped by b/c we live on the subway line and she lives 1 hr away from us) and since she was told she had to be there earlier than planned, we were rushing and I spilled 1/2 of the foundation on the bathroom floor!

So that's my main beef with this foundation: the packaging. I find that sometimes the threads don't catch and I don't end up closing the cap all the way. I thought it did - I was closing it with two hands and putting it down with one and the bottom just fell down. My sis felt bad and said I could still use maybe the top of the pile not touching the floor but, um... no. lol. I'm not that desperate to keep the stuff!

I'm sure you're all less klutzy than I am, but I thought I'd post the warning just in case! And I had to vent this out somehow....$20 down the drain, just like that...

Otherwise, this stuff gives me decent coverage (I like it sheer to medium) and an incredibly great glow. It looks like I'm not wearing anything and just have great skin, which I absolutely love. I don't even have to use primer some days, which is a must when I use Select spf or anything else for that matter. The "capplicator" takes a bit of getting used to because I usually love how my 182 moves with my face. I have to be a bit more conscious of the areas which the capplicator didn't touch since it's flat and my face has rounded bits, lol.

All in all I love it and will be keeping it as the foundation for me if it performs well in the summer, which I foresee it doing. I'll just have to be much more careful to close it!

Re: MAC Mineralize Powder Foundation Discussion
I got this yesterday. The MA told me that it's buildable and it gets darker the more you buff it in. I've been lemming for this for a while. I wanted a mineralized makeup for quick outings and I can't wear BE.

I'm NW20: She suggested LIGHT

Packaging is weird. I bought a new 180 to use with it. I tapped a bit into my petri dish and swirlled, tap and foundation made a monster cloud in my bathroom. I can see why the caplicator is there. I ended up using the caplicator. It took quite a few times to get any coverage. I'm 42 and my skin is in no way perfect. I need some coverage. Light is really light! Almost too light! I put it on over moisturizer. ( I Let it dry for 5 minutes before applying the minerals).

I will have to play with it more. So far I think it's ok. I also have been using the domed MSF in Medium and I like the coverage with that a lot. I'm not sure why I am determined to find a Loose Mineral foundation.

Any hints or tricks for this product would be awesome!

BTW: The sponge is the same material from the 'today' sponge. It is a bit weird. LOL

lol, I'm glad it gave you a laugh. I should be more devastated but eh, spills happen. It's good enough knowing I've found a great foundation!

I got mine when it was released at Nordies but I just dont know yet.I thought I liked it but maybe its the color I got Medium(which I wear in the pressed container) and I am a Nw25. I dont like the container at all it makes it hard to get the powder I wish they would have done it like they do the loose Blot power. I think it would have been easier with that type of container!!!That would have been nicer!!Still deciding and using my other mineralized power in the pressed, like that alot!! Anyone feel like me?????

I definitely think Medium is not your colour! I'm NC25-30 and I got Light Medium. Mind you, there foundations run a bit on the yellow side so it might not match your skintone exactly anyway.

As for getting the powder out, did the MA talk to you about how to "work" with the packaging? With the cap on, turn it upside down, tap 3 times. Turn it back right-side up, tap 3 times. Take off the cap, tap 3 times on the side of the container. That way you'll get product on the applicator but not a heck load of an amount.

It is a bit tedious to do this so what I've done it skip the middle tapping or just do it lightly so there's some product sitting on top of the sifter for me to dip into if I need more. If I have too much on the capplicator I "dot" my face. So if this is the first round of application I'd pat some on my forehead and down one side of my face, then go back to my forehead and start buffing down the side of my face. The 2nd round, if there's still too much I'll pat the bare side of my face and my nose and chin, then go back to buff that cheek and over the middle of my face.

lol, hope that made sense, and hope it helps!

Re: MAC Mineralize Powder Foundation Discussion
First of all i'd like to say that i'm super fair and i got it to work- so i don't want to hear it!!! LOL It's really the best MMU i ever tried. it's smooth, not shiny and not super opaque. It actually looks very skin like and with blot powder or select sheer the shade is slighly 'tweekable'. it wears off realativly quick and the reapplication doesn't result in a total mess. I actually like it as a finishing/ touch up powder because of the spf!!!But the packaging is sooooo horrid- i'm ashamed to leave it in my counter LOL -no seriously i couldn't stand it so i put it in a mac shifter jar. Forget the caplicator for best results 187 or 182 <3 HTHs

I posted a review in the correct thread, however i'd like to add that it made the skin around my mouth and nose alittle dry. so i need fix+ with this

Re: MAC Mineralize Powder Foundation Discussion
i tried it as well with MSf natural on top and it seems to increase coverage a lot and made it match my skin tone almost 100%, but i prefer very sheer coverage so this is not something i'll be doing anytime soon ....

Re: MAC Mineralize Powder Foundation Discussion
I am NC25 and got the Light MPF. The color goes real well with my skintone. I must say that I love it!! I can't even tell that its on. I hate wearing foundation that feels like it weighs 10lbs on your face. It also does not seem to cause as many breakouts.

There is hope!! The Loose Mineralize actually leans towards the yellow zone, which has been wonderful for me. Give it a shot, you might fall in love too!
