Re: Neo Sci-fi, Solar Field, And Future Earth
if it's anything like the previous summer collections, it's probably orange with gold pearls instead of cream orange. personally, i think that's quite tropical and "beachy". plus, we know 2 of the lipglasses are pink grapefruit and soft&slow and yet none of the pictures look like them, so maybe the color of the packaging is off too

Re: Neo Sci-fi, Solar Field, And Future Earth
Packaging IS really important - I wouldn't even have bought half of the Benefit products I have if they weren't presented the way they are. Once I bought an Urban Decay foundation just because they changed the packaging from a totally boring container to a purple genie lamp. Sure, the foundation ended up being a great product, but they couldn't even get me to try it when it was just a plain bottle. I would definitely buy any of these MAC colors if I liked the product inside, even though I hate the orange packaging, but the problem is, as many people have said - the orange just makes it impossible to really tell what the color inside is! This will be one I need to swatch, but I wonder how many people are even going to try it at the counter after the tricks the combination plays on the eyes (I'm sure us obsessed Specktra visitors make up only a small portion of MAC's entire clientele).
I have a yellow nail polish that OPI came out with a few years back - it's REALLY difficult to wear. I always feel like I have diseased fingers and toes when I wear it! (I have NC15 skin) The picture of the MAC yellow looks very similar. The blue though, I must have...I love blue more than any other nail polish color, and I don't have a shade like this one yet.

Yes, but that is also how these threads on upcoming collections tend to go. Us all babbling about how we feel about the collection.

I believe that's gonna be packaging color (orange, blue and yellow) as we have three parts. I don't think anyone read my post lol but those are MAC bags that go with this collection.

Pink grapefruit is the first lipglass here:

Re: Neo Sci-fi, Solar Field, And Future Earth
The lip products are pretty neutral, it surprised me. Other than Electro, that bright orange one, they're all quite brown or beige based it looks like. With inspiration drawn from Sci-Fi, I was expected some very bright, bordering-on-garish colors, and I was very excited for that. Maybe the eyeshadows will make up for the lack of ...fiction in the lip products. The colors (other than Electro, that is) all look like they could be found in nature easily. Lovely colors, just doesn't seem to fit with the name to me.
As for the packaging, orange is my favorite color, so no matter how much it clashes with the color of the products, I'm going to love it.
The Volcanic Ash scrub sounds interesting. I've never used any MAC skincare, but from what I understand the quality is generally pretty good.

As a lot of people have said everyone bitches and moans about this special packaging until the collections come out. I can't remember a collection that wasn't complained about whether it was Lure, Fafi (although that ended up being justified because of those damn stickers), Heatherette, Moonbathe, so on and so on. Most of the time people come around when they actually see the products in the store.
So true.I do like the packaging(a pearly or paler orange would have been better)but I still like it anyway.I like all the different packaging MAC does-it's fun.

Re: Neo Sci-fi, Solar Field, And Future Earth
i have been thinking about it and i think the packaging would look better as orange with yellow on, or yellow with orange instead of orange and black. orange and black makes me immediately think of halloween, whereas yellow and orange is more of a summery mix. it's not very sci-fish though?! as in.. the whole collection makes me think summer not star wars.

The soft bags look great together - so why shouldn't orange, yellow and blue packaging? I would like to get those packaging in the other two parts of the collection.

Thanks so much for posting those pics!! You've reinstalled a little hope back in my heart that I'll love this collection. Three different colors of packaging would be gorgeous and unique. Fingers crossed!
Oh, and I'd like to add that I agree that packaging is really important. Make-up is about LOOKS, and if the packaging clashes with the product inside, it gives a terrible first impression. If I find a must have color, then I'll buy it even if it's wrapped in cardboard, but I'd much rather have an eyeshadow with fantastic packaging that I'm excited about. What's Specktra for if not ranting and raving?

I hate the packaging but I hate the colours more. It is really boring for a collection. I have seen it before.

Re: Neo Sci-fi, Solar Field, And Future Earth
Gosh for the first time ever, I am so confused on what collection is what and when they are all coming out. So this 3 part gimmick is really one collection? The unattractive orange bullet lippies? Or are they all different collections?
I know Naughty Nauticals will be coming out May 1st but what about this collection?

With some products, I couldn't care less about the packaging but for make-up/bodycare and other things which - for the most part - are luxuries, it all adds to the enjoyment for me and the feeling of them being 'treats'. Benefit in particular can make even things like moisturiser seem fun and desirable.
Having said that though, I wouldn't buy something I didn't like or think I would use just because of its packaging. I'm neither up nor down about the forthcoming orange stuff, but although I take no interest in football, the orange and little bit of black automatically make me think of one of my local teams' colours and the connection puts a bit of a downer on it for me!

Can I thank you again? I was being really nice when I agreed with the poster who said spoiled.
I still stand by my "picky" statement.
I must be the only one who likes this collection. And I think the orange is hot. I'm way more excited for this than the Naughty Nauticals collection.

And I say we're all spoiled because we get such an early peek at the collections so we can make our lists beforehand, regardless of what the packaging is. I stand by my "spoiled" statement...there's no need to be snarky.

Snarky? Um, I wasnt trying offend to you.
Edited to add: I was saying I agreed with you in terms of being spoiled to change my wording. My original post was in the lines of what Glam8babe was saying.

Re: Neo Sci-fi, Solar Field, And Future Earth
And I'm over here laughing, because no one has actually seen the colors or the packaging in real life here yet. Seriously, with MAC I've learned to reserve judgment until I actually see the product and play with it. I thought Heatherette packaging looked silly from promo images and it's turned out to be one of my favorite collections from MAC. I also know product finish is as important as color. So I'm still looking forward to this collection until I've seen something to convince otherwise. Certainly more than promoshots, which are notoriously off in terms of actual products.

Gotcha...just a little web-misunderstanding, then. Sometimes it's awful hard to tell who's being genuine and who's not.

If you can't all play nicely together, refrain from typing entirely.
People are free to complain, and people are free to comment on the complaining. That being said, there's no need to be rude, sulky or snarky towards other members.
