MAC - Strobe Discussion
Has anyone else played with these yet?
Strobe Liquid was so thin and so sheer, it was a little disappointing. It wasn't so much candlelight finish as it was almost invisible. I didn't get it because I can get the same effect by adding a dab of Strobe Cream or PX luminiser or Benefit High Beam and mixing it with my moisturiser.
The strobe lip conditioners are very sheer and the pearl is very, very subtle. I was thinking about getting Strobe Kiss and Strobe Blossom, but the containers/packaging is so flimsy and cheap-feeling that I could almost see it cracking in my make-up bag.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
Well now thats disappointing. I read where someone used the strobe liquid with a 187 & buffed it gently after blush and supposedly it made her skin look flawless. I love the strobe cream

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I wanted to try the liquid as well, only because I heard the cream causes breakouts. My skin can be sensitive sometimes, but I love the dewey look.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
Damn.
I am pretty fond of mixing some sort of luminizer with my Mineralize Satinfinish. I generally go between:
Benefit's Hollywood Glo or High Beam
MAC's Glimmer Shimmers in Astral Rays, On the Town or Fashion Leader
Lorac's Luminizer in Gold
I was hoping the Strobe liquid would be another option, but maybe not. I am interested in trying this out to see how it does.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I had high hopes for the Strobe Liquid as well. I applied it to the back of my hand as well as liberally to my arm to see what the glimmer was going to be like, and it was so, so subtle. It just looked damp rather than glowy.
I can think of a nice use for it, though - it'd look great applied to the décolletage and shoulders when you're going out at night and want to have that very subtle sheen to your skin.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
Strobe came out here yesterday and I was disappointed, too.
The liquid couldn't convince me at all. And I didn't buy one of the lip conditioners neither. I tested "Strobe Rays" and "Strobe Kiss", but I didn't like the texture and the packaging. This is the first time I have to say it is a better choice to buy a drugstore's lip care.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I love the strobe lip conditioners on the lips, when u try them on the back of the hand they are too subtle to see. As for strobe liquid, i LOVE it! Sometimes if you mix a liquid highlighter into a moisturiser it goes too shimmery or too shiny, this pearl in the liquid is soo subtle and ultra-fine that it literally looks like your skin glows instead of shimmers. You guys do know that both strobe cream and strobe liquid are moisturisers and not highlighters?

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I LOVE strobe liquid. It reminds me a lot of the Lancome chameleon creme but...
you can lightly tap strobe liquid with 188 all over the face, over your make up, and it will not separate your make up or move it around. It is a lot like strobe cream but it gives a better glow since you can layer it over your make up.
strobe cream is a moisturizer, but strobe liquid is not.

It is a big round stick. It is bigger than a common lip care stick.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I played with this collection today and nothing tempted me. The Strobe Liquid showed up exactly the same as the Strobe Cream on me and the lip conditioners felt really nice and moisturizing but were very, very sheer and not really noticeable on my pigmented lips. I can get the same effect with some Vaseline with a bit of pigment mixed in. The little containers for the conditioners were little plump, white plastic tubes. They were very flimsy!

the strobe liquid is especially good for people with oily skin..its lightweight, dries quickly, isnt oily at in the slightest. People that are used to the cream might not like it because of the consistancy, but i think it works amazingly well to give just enough of a sheen and its a little buildable..
its awesome.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I'm surprised everyone is saying the TLC packaging is flimsy--are they different this year than the LE sticks from the Bait collection? I have no problem with my Pink Resort and Beach Gild TLCs, and I bring them everywhere! Same with Malted from the Boy Beauty collection. Those are some of my favourite MAC products ever!

I would love to see swatches or IRL photos of these too - it can be on skin, paper, anything it takes! TIA

I would LOVE it if it doesn't separate my foundation! Fix+ and the charged waters both do that on me, whether I use it before or after. Strobe Cream would be too heavy for my oily skin, so it'd be wonderful if the Liquid works!
