Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I was wondering if the Strobe Liquid is like Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion? I watched a video on Pursebuz and the ma used this on the bridge of the nose to slenderize it and at the outer corner of the eyes. It looked really cool. I have very oily skin so I don't want to be shiny but a soft glow in places sounds pretty. I'll add a link, hope it works.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
Got my Strobe "haul" today. What's a random Thursday without some sort of haul, right?
I have been a fan of the Strobe Cream for years. I've never been too fond of the smell, but learned to ignore it in order to benefit from Strobe Cream's advantages. So I was interested to see what Strobe liquid has to offer, and....... I love the Strobe Liquid.
Strobe Liquid is very subtle. If you are looking for obvious glitter/shimmer, you won't get it with Strobe Liquid. It does give you a nice, subtle luminescent/highlight glow to the face though.
I rec'd my Strobe Liquid halfway through the day, after I had applied my makeup (Mineralize Satinfinish with a touch of MSF Natural). I applied a little Strobe Liquid to the back of my hand, then added it to my 188 brush. I lightly dabbed it on the tops of my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and my forehead. I dabbed a bit on, then let it dry down for a couple of seconds then blended it out. It isn't oily, so it didn't break down my foundation. It gave a nice glow that passed my test.
I think the Strobe Liquid has great potential to be mixed (in a small amount) with foundations to add luminosity. Might be nice at the brow bone as well.
I ordered the following Strobe TLCs:
- Strobe Kiss
- Strobe Current
- Strobe Beam
- Strobeblossum
I like the Strobe TLCs, but then again, I am taking them for what they are...a lip care product. They are meant to be a lip care product with SPF and the slightest wash of colour. If you are expecting a pigmented punch from these babies, you will be out of luck. I am an NW25 with medium pigmented, rosey-toned lips and I did notice a slight hint of colour when I applied them (with the exception of Strobe Beam which has no colour).
The containers are really just the same as the other TLC or LC sticks that have been released in the past. Sure, if you drop them they may break, but I wouldn't let that dissuade you from purchasing them. I don't think they are too fragile.
I didn't mind the smell of them either. In the past, the TLC sticks have had a not so pleasant smell, IMO. That scent seems to have disapated.
So, all in all, a very subtle collection, but I like it.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I got Strobe Blossom today and I love it, not much colour but it's really soft and conditioning on the lips. I had a look at the strobe liquid but I'm content with finishing off my strobe cream for now so I didn't get it - although I did like to look of it all the same.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I bought Kiss, Rays and Beam. Kiss has just enough colour for what I want, which is not much of a colour. I think Beam may have the most 'strobe' effect of all of them. Rays is nothing on me and maybe I should return it, although it's nice as just a regular lip conditioner.
The smell is nice enough. It's the same as my regular lip conditioner... not much of anything.
These are just what I was looking for... a new lip care product.
I'll post pictures tomorrow when it's daylight.

I completely forgot to test the Liquid, as I was so busy with the lip conditioners.
Do we need Liquid if we have the cream? Why do we need/want both?

IMO:
Strobe Cream is an emollient, light moisturizer. It looks/feels good when worn on it's own. It can thin down foundations if added over, whereas Strobe Liquid doesn't. Strobe Cream is skin care with cosmetic benefits.
Strobe Liquid is makeup, not a moisturizer like Strobe Cream. I don't think it would look/feel great on it's own all over the face, like Strobe Cream does. Strobe Liquid dries down more. It doesn't have the moisturizer/skin care benefits that Strobe Cream does.
I guess it just comes down to what you are looking for the product to do.

I'm confused. So what do you use it for, if you don't use it like the cream?
The website lists it as "A lighter-weight addition to the popular Strobe Cream."
I wonder if I need it or if the cream is enough for me right now. Does it have the same amount of iridescent pigments?

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
Tinted lip conidtions are meant to be sheer, hence the word "tinted". I looove strobe liquid it has become a staple in my face routine, You def. only want to use a VERY little with the 188, put some on a petri dish or back of hand and swirl it around then buff it to your face (after foundation/powder) to a section of face at a time (one side of cheek, the other, forhead and nose). Let it set down i na few minutes and you will love it!, and as you go on with youre day it will only get better!. I think of strobe liquid as my lil airbrush liquid on top foundation/powder, and strobe cream as my night mnoisturizer. I havent tried mixing strobe liquid into foundation but i sure will tommorrow. I sure do love those lip conditioners though, they look fabulous on top of a lined and lipsticked pout! if you need so more color. I love nude lips so this is hwat i have been doing for a sexy pout (creme sherry cremestick, myth lipstick and to top it off strobe kiss or strobe blossom on top). Give these tints a try, the strobe pearl is so reflective it makes your lips look pouty. I love them!

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
So, just my little strobe review:
I'm an NC40 with rather pigmented lips, so take that into consideration while reading.
Strobe liquid is awesome if you want a highlighter that is sheer, but can be built up to your desired amount of shimmer. It doesn't -feel- like any sort of skincare product - it's closer to high beam from benefit, just without color. One layer looks just this side of natural, and it's easy to build up from there!
I didn't buy it (it's $30 and I just don't have the money) but I don't doubt that I will at some point in the near future. This MAY be my HG highlighter, no joke.
I DID, however, buy strobe currant TLC. My lips are pretty pigmented, so I tend to need darker tinted lip products just to get them to show (unless they're very opaque). Strobe currant is a very very very very very very shimmery MLBB product for me. It looks like you're wearing lusterglass, almost, but it doesn't feel like it. It just feels creamy. However, for me, that feeling doesn't last long! So I like to put on a cheapie lip balm underneath, just to keep it feeling nice longer. Of course, YMMV as far as lasting power goes, but I find that I have to reapply it a couple of times a day. You know, average for a lip balm. I honestly only bought it because I like to only have one type of lip product on at a time during the day. I'm just too lazy to do more than one step for my lips ^^;;;
EDIT: I'd recommend strobe liquid to anyone who tends to have trouble with powder highlighters: this stuff will stay where you put it for sure, and it looks much more natural (IMHO, anyway). Get a TLC stick if you want a lusterglass look with a lipbalm feeling. If you're fine with using lusterglass and lip balm seperately, you can probably skip them.

thats funny, seeing as how they are the exact same product, with the exception of the strobe pearl in the new sticks. even tho the regular ones in the tub are softer, they all moisturize the same.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I think I haven't been interested in the Strobe collection, because it was released here on one day with Fafi and the Beauty Powder Blushes. Those two collections demanded a lot of money so I had to disregard Strobe.
Maybe I had bought something if it were released at a subsequent date.

I got strobe beam today and loooove it!!! I use it under Snow Girl lipglass and it looks amazing, amps up the red reflect in both the gloss and the tlc even more.

Re: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Discussion
I got a sample of the strobe liquid yesterday and am in love already! The strobe cream breaks me out, but this is MUCH lighter. I am using it as a cheek highlight today, and even DH noticed. I am excited to get a fullsize bottle!

Anyone know if Strobe Liquid contains any oils or propylene or pentylene glycol (I can only use butylene glycol)?

I do not have my update book with me since I am on vacation so I am not able to answer this question. I tried to ask an artist via Live Chat on the website, but they do not know ingredients first hand and I was directed to a number to call corporate and ask.
Perhaps Erine has the ingredients handy?

It just depends on the finish you like your skin to have. While Strobe Cream is a medium-hydrating (does that make sense?) moisturizer, it does have the pink opalescence to it, giving a very glowy metallic finish on the skin. It can be worn alone or under makeup, but it will definitely influence the finish of the foundation. Example being if you put Studio Fix Fluid over Strobe, it will mattefy it somewhat, but you will still have a fairly glowy result. If that is what you want, then go for it. However if you get very oily throughout the day, this may be too moisturizing and may become "greasy" and may move alot even when set with powders throughout the day.
If that is the problem, go for Strobe Liquid. As others have said, it dries down alot more since it is just a light lotion. It is not meant to substitute moisturizer so always put some on before application of Strobe Liquid. It looks great alone or with foundation. I have oily skin, but on some days I just want some glow. I moisturize with an Oil Controlling moisturizer (usually Oil Control Lotion by MAC), and smooth the Strobe Lotion all over my face. I apply my Studio Fix Fluid over that and once powdered and finished, my skin has a very subtle glow. Mind you I have to touch up often with powder because I hate the sweaty type of look (and shimmer on the nose and forehead make me think SWEAT) but it does look very simple and nice.
I hope that helps and wasn't too confusing haha!!
