So people often ask what MAC items are basic must haves so I thought I would post my suggestions. Feel free to ad yours! Let's try to keep it to permanent products and not LE items, that way the info can actually be useful to people. I'm naming just basic colors and not the colorful colors.

Must add Vanilla eyeshadow. It's so underrated, maybe because it looks boring in the pot, but it's a wonderful highlight that isn't overly shimmery or too white I went to a MAC class taught by MA Christopher M. a few months ago and he asked if any of us owned Vanilla eyeshadow, I was one of three people who raised their hand and he looked at me and said, "Good girl!" I LOL'd.

Saddle is another great eyeshadow for contouring the eye with neutral looks.

when i think basics, i think a VERY few items, not the laundry lists some of you have posted!!!



if i get this question, i always, always, ALWAYS suggest Mulch and Naked Lunch eye shadows, Viva Glam 5 lipstick and lipglass and Buff blush. those colours look good on almost anyone.

the nice thing about those colours, too, is that they produce subtle results for the makeup novice so they don't get scared off.

and suggesting a very few products means that it's easy on the budget, which is really important for a lot of us!!!

SADDLE matte e/s - I think everyone should own one!!! Perfect for a natural contour. It adds just the right amount of depth. Great for natural looks or added to the crease with other colors do make then blend better. From my experience you can pretty much use this for any look your going for, dramatic or neutral.
Also, with a small brush you can use this to contour the cheeks!!

Blacktrack fluidline - Intense black that is easy to apply and lasts long.
