Best tips, advice, recs MAC MAs have given you?
(Has a thread like this already been done?)
I think i miss out on learning anything new from the MAC SAs at my counter, maybe i just havn't asked enough questions or talked to them in a way that had made them give me their experienced advice, but alot of other people seem to pick up great tips and advice. I'd love it if we could all share them here.

The few tips i've been given are -

* Don't let the wood part of your brushes get wet. This was a great tip as soon afterwards i saw someones ruined brush here.

* Use 187 brush with Studio Tech foundation for a great finish (ha, already read that here before though)

~Lip Conditioner can be used on dry spots on the eyelid and eyebrow. This really works despite how it sounds.

- Use a Beige-ing Shadestick under e/s for a more vibrant look.

Using a soft angle brush (forgot the name) as a lip brush, works better than any lipbrush!

Using cheap sponges to blend shadows and liners, works like a dream. Also, using a 190 brush to put on foundation and using a concealer brush was a great tip!

i didn't get all of these from mac ma's...alot were from other makeup artists i worked with on shoots and stuff, but they're all good tips nonetheless.

-using a corn shadestick under chrome yellow makes it even MORE vibrant.
-treating your lips overnight with a thick coat of vasaline will keep them moisturized and healthy and help prevent and heal cracks.
-when you have a build-up of dead skin on your lips [which makes your lipstick cake up and look all grody] put either carmex or vasaline on them and let it sit for a few minutes, then brush your lips off with a toothbrush to remove the dead skin.
-sand is an incredible body exfoliator.
-when applying foundation/concealor, it's better to use a brush than a sponge because the sponge will absorb both the product and bacteria, which can cause skin problems.

hope somebody can use those for some benefit

Stop neglecting your lips...lol
I tend to do so much with my eyes and then swipe on gloss.
Lining and filling in with a brush paired with soft eyes and lashes give me a wonderful look.

Yes, it totally works. My brows were all dried out and my lids were dry from paint. I started using it on Thursday night and tonight my lids and brows look great. It just sounds gross. If he doesn't feel comfortable using the lip conditioner, find some Shea Butter but make sure it's 100% pure Shea Butter. =)

I get dry lids in winter. The best thing for me has been Neosporin, you know the antibiotic ointment?? it's like vasolene, but better because it heals. Just be careful not to get it in your eyes, trust me, that's not fun. it leaves my lids soft and flake-free. you should try it for him!

-Using 217 brush for concealers, ccbs, paints, select cover up, etc. uses less product and blends amazingly.
-Mix strobe cream with blush cremes to make ur cheeks glow.
[Can't remember the rest, but when i do i'll be sure to post!]

Mix Silver Dusk and Golden Bronze together for a less intense bronze look.

I always tell my customers if they want to intensify there eyeshadow colour to use gilded white eye kohl on there eye lid and place shadow on top.

Also another use for lip conditioner (clear) other than ur eyes, use it on ur brows to groom them and make them seem a little darker rather than filling them in.

Use Beige-ing Shadestick under Lustre eyeshadows for easier blending and a brighter, more consistent finish.

Use extra lipliner at the edges and corners of the lips for a poutier effect.

My MA recommended doing your eyes first and then foundation and blush to save time on cleaning up all the fall out. It has worked and it does save me time when I remember to do it this way because I have done it the other way fo so long!

use clear packing tape to remove those oil spots you get on your studio fix or other compact face powders. just place the tape over the spots, rub over gently and lift away

Use Blooz eye khol under night owl or Foxy Lady eyekohl under BeautyMarked for eyeliner. Makes the glitter show up.
Wear extreme colors on the outer third of lower lid. Always looks good.

-Sprits a soft hold hairspray or dab some gel onto an old kiddie toothbrush or brow spoolie and brush your brows into shape...they'll hold way better than with a 'brow gel' no matter what!
-don't have any oil blotting paper or powder? hop into the next public restroom and rip off a piece of toilet seat covering and blot your t-zone...works JUST like those papers! And free!
-instead of doing the usual "apply shimmery shadow to the inner duct of the eye for a wide eyed look," apply the shadow on the OUTer duct of the eye...it's eye catching and unexpected
-Cork e/s is GREAT for countouring on olive/tanned skin tones
-to help ensure your lipstick doesn't bleed, after you apply your lipstick, dip a q-tip in loose powder and trace the outline of your lips

HTH everyone!

There are some awesome tips here! The best tip I can think of is to just add gloss in the middle of your lips to make them look pouty and that just been kissed look.
