When I put on false lashes which is rare for me becuase I don't need them but when I do, I put a little glue on my less dominant hand and let it sit for 10 seconds. WHile it's sitting, I size the lash and see where I want to put it and then use a little pointed brush and run a line on the lashes and then take both hands and apply it to the ridge right above the lashes. Sometimes I take the pointed brush and add a little more glue. I always put on my liner and eyeshadow first. The glue dries clear so it doesn't bother it at all. I let the lash dry before starting on the other one. It takes practice! Don't give up!!!

unconventional lash application
This thread reminds me when I was in Eshthetics school our instructor told us how she used to put on her own falsies - every day- for the past 30 yrs. This only took her a matter of minutes to do.
I've never heard of anyone else doing this because it just seems so unconventional and tricky...
Anyway, she would get her falsies and a mirror and BLACK LASH GLUE and sit at a table while looking down at the mirror, she would put them on UNDERNEATH her own lashes.---- Did that make sense?
She said this made the false lashes blend in with her own lashes and appeared more natural.
Has anyone else tried this or heard of this method? Is this the "old school" way?
I've tried it with not much success although I don't wear lashes for fear that my eyes will look any bigger than they already are!

That's how I apply individual lashes/clusters...if you're putting them on yourself, it's much easier to put them underneath your own lashes...when I am putting them on someone else, it's easier to put them on above the natural lashes because I can look down and see what I'm doing...

Practice makes perfect. Wear them everyday until you get comfy with them. That's what I'm trying to do.

Re: False Lashes Application Help!
my falsies routine:
1. prepare (new) falsies by trimming the outer ends - do trim off bit by bit, measuring against your eyes after each snip to ensure that you don't trim off too much.
2. after mascara application, i set one falsie into my tool (pic below, mine is pink)

3. i apply glue evenly on the band and waited for 10 seconds - let the glue get tacky
4. using the tool, i gently push down my mascara'ed natural lashes (to aim for the lash line better) and move the tool inwards so that the sticky falsies band will attach onto my lash line
5. i remove the tool and adjust the falsies with my fingers, then i apply gentle pressure so that the sticky band will adhere firmly - to do that i use the end of the handle of my lip-brush.
6. using my fingers, i "pinch" the falsies and my natural lashes together.
after usage, i remove the falsies and stick them back into their original box so as to retain the curl.
i peel off excess glue that has dried on the band, just set the falsie on the table and apply a couple drops of water on the band. the glue should peel off easily. this way, the falsies will last longer.

Re: False Lashes Application Help!
I used to always wear the CVS/Sally brand and I just bought a pair of MAC lashes. WHAT a difference! They went on some much easier. I, too use tweezers when applying.

Re: False Lashes Application Help!
def let the glue sit for a little bit (a min or two) and get tacky...it'll adhere to your lash line faster.

Re: False Lashes Application Help!
Curl your natural lashes 1st
Apply glue to the band, you want to make a little ball of glue on each end
wait 20 sec. for the glue to get tacky
apply the lashes starting from the outside & work in, some ppl apply the corners 1st
after your lashes are on, take the back of a tweezer & press lightly on the lashes
Hope this helps

Re: False Lashes Application Help!
Eve Pearl has the best lash video I have ever seen on You tube.
My own thing is to put on the lashes and let them set for like 5 minutrs on the lash line before pushing them up slightly with my fingers. Then I fuse the lashes to my own with non waterproof mascara. They stay on for like sixteen hours, and unless I wear the over the top kind, they look like my own.....I wash them in warm water and reshape them and can wear them two maybe three times. I comb them with a mustache comb, I trim them with a mustache scissors.

I find that the type of glue you use makes a big difference. I could never get falsies right until I got Duo lash adhesive...

Re: False Lashes Application Help!
Hmm, I almost feel strange that I put my lashes on LAST. After my makeup, after mascara. I don't want to dirty the lashes, I guess. The only thing I want to clean off the lashes is the glue when I take them off. I think, at least for me, is much easier. I never considered doing it the other way around.
My application is fairly simple as well:
I have been practicing for a bit though. Sometimes I have to trim the lashes but mostly not, depending on the style of lashes. If they are new lashes out of the box I will put them on first without adding glue to see if I need to trim them or test the placement to get it just right.
Then I will add glue, then I place them where I want them lightly.
I usually use a pair of dull tweezers to 'clamp' them down onto my lash line. Once I have done that, then I use my fingers to squeeze everything into place, like at the corners and the middle. I usually hold my fingers down to make sure everything adheres properly.
Then the last step, I take the tweezers and press the lashes against the corners and the middle to make sure everything is good. That is all there is to it.

Re: False Lashes Application Help!
babe
1. curl ur eyelash
2. line your eyes
3. prepare lashes - cut length if necessary. sometimes it keeps falling off because itz too long for your eyes
4. put on glue. count to 15. until the glue becomes semi transparent (if ur glue dries clear) or tacky
5. put the lash on as close to ur lash line as possible. juz line the lash to the middle of your eye 1st, and then adjust the corners.
sidenote: if u are afraid of lashes coming off..... put the glue in your handbag babe. i always do that

Re: False Lashes Application Help!
I keep trying my hardest to apply my false eyelashes and can never get it quite right I can't seem to get them close enough to my lash line no matter how hard I try. I guess I'll just have to keep trying with some cheapies until I get the hang of it.

Does anyone have any tips on how to apply these???? I tried yesterday and they didnt fully glue down..im afraid they'll fall off. HELP! also....how do u wash them after putting mascara on them..thanks!!!!
The tip I got from my MA is to cut the eyelash strips into 3 and apply each section separately...
(that's after you've measured out the correct overall length)

Re: False Lashes Application Help!
I use a wooden cuticle stick to help press the eyelashes to the eyeline.
After your night out, remove eyelashes and place in a shallow dish of water. The glue will peel of easily the next morning. Sometimes removing dry glue that has makeup caked into it will strip some of the eyelash hairs off the strip.
Mould eyelashes back to the box they came in. Brush eyelashes to separate and apply a bit of cuticle conditioning oil to keep them in good condition.
If the eyelashes have flattened (i.e. don't have a natural curl from root to tip) as a result of sitting in the water, place on a kleenex and fold lengthways around a makeup brush until dry (with the strip running the length of the brush handle). Unfortunately this will flatten the eyelashes the other way, but with the next application of glue and moulding to eye shape this won't be too much of a big deal.
