Re: How many brushes do you use for one m/u application?
I have a brush for every little detail I need done. I rarely ever use the same brush to perform multiple tasks.
Here are my eyeshadow brushes:
- Stiff Angled Brow Brush: to precisely apply powder color to my brows
- Medium Taklon Brush: to apply and blend cream-based products to my face such as concealer and cream eyeshadow
- Large Eyeshadow Brush: to apply eyeshadow "wash" all over my eyes
- Medium Eyeshadow Brush (MAC 239): to apply main eyeshadow color to my eyelids only
- Contour Crease Brush: to apply eyeshadow to my crease
- Small Eyeshadow Brush: to apply shimmer highlight eyeshadow to my browbone and inner corners of my eyes
- Pencil Brush: smudge my eyeliner for a softer look and to define my crease
- Flat Angled Brush: to apply eyeshadow to the outer "V" of my eyes
- Blending Brush: to blend out any harsh lines in my eyeshadow application... LINES IN EYESHADOW ARE A BIG NO-NO!!!
- Thin Eyeliner Brush: to apply liquid and gel eyeliner precisely to my eyes
That makes 10 brushes I use on my eyes alone!!!

Re: How many brushes do you use for one m/u application?
I use the following:-
- Clinique foundation brush. Absolutely *wonderful* thing, it was almost as expensive as the MAC equivalent brush, and seems just as soft. I went for this over the MAC brush as it was Clinique superfit foundation I was using at the time (so figured it was a good idea to stick within the same brand), but I find it gives a wonderful result with all foundations. I'm pretty happy with this, but it wasn't cheap. I use it to blend concealer and my eyeshadow "basecoat" of MAC Paint too, I find it's really great at blending all fluid/cream-based products and sooooo soft. I'll probably get a seperate concealer brush at some point.
- A great big no-brand-name (but actually quite good) fluffy brush for blusher and powder.
- For eyeshadow application I use two body shop brushes - one angled, one straight - for most applications. Body shop brushes are pretty decent and have won awards from UK Beauty mags for best brushes, I will probably upgrade to MAC ones at some point in the future when cash allows, but for now, they're good enough. If I want to really pack colour on, I sometimes use (gasp in horror) a spongetipped applicator to get the colour on there really densely.
- My only MAC brush is a fluffy blending brush, which is absolutely LOVELY and makes SUCH a difference to the finish of the look. If I had to recommend someone on a limited budget (like me!) which brushes to splurge on, I would say "get a foundation brush, as it makes a HUGE difference, and the best quality fluffy blending brush you can afford".
- For fluidline, I use a Body Shop pointed tip lip brush, which I find works quite well - I like it better than the slanted brushes, which I just can't get to work right with fluidline. I'm probably going to upgrade to the Bobbi Brown liner brush soon, it's a fabulous little thing.
- I use the same Body Shop lipbrush to line lips and apply colour, though obviously I clean it after the fluidline!
so...... six brushes in total: foundation, powder, pointed lip brush, two eyeshadow brushes to apply and one fluffy brush to blend shadow *nods*

Re: How many brushes do you use for one m/u application?
1. Foundation brush (190)
2. Buffing brush (182)
3. Eyeshadow fluff brush (213)
4. Eye crease/blending (222)
5. Brow brush (208 )
6. Blush & powder brush (129)
That's a typical day. Somedays it's more if I'm doing something fancy.

A sponge sometimes
My 187

Sometimes another for crease if I'm feeling super nit picky about how it looks...

Re: How many brushes do you use for one m/u application?
I use a blush brush, one eyeshadow brush, and eyeliner brush and thats really it.
Which is weird because I wear more makeup then anybody I've EVER met. I'm one of those people who uses more product then tools.

Re: How many brushes do you use for one m/u application?
Am I the only person who uses sponge tipped applicators? I use 1 of those for every color I'm wearing.. Cause I like my colors bright and bold and those work best for me.
Then:
A crease brush
A brow brush
A blush brush
A highlight brush (MAC 216.. then I clean it and use it for any blending that can't be done with sponges)
and a brush similar to my brow brush for applying e/s under my eyes (thin line under eyeliner that matches my main colors)

Foundation, blush, fine point, medium shader, narrow shader. Five in all, six if you want to count the puff that I apply powder with.

Re: How many brushes do you use for one m/u application?
Let's see...
I use one for the face...or two, if I'm contouring. Two for my brows and up to four for my eyes.
So that makes 8 brushes total.
