Re: Which Mac shadows should be avoided?
I've never had a problem with Vex (I really only use it in the corners of my eye, though, so that might be why), but I do have massive problems with clarity (and Matte2s in general) as well as coppering.

Re: Which Mac shadows should be avoided?
I have a hard time using Cork and Greensmoke. Cork doesn't really show up at all because it's so close to my skin colour, and I don't really know why I got Greensmoke, I never use it.

I have Trax, which initially I found difficult to work with, but I found that it looks pretty over Smut. Maybe I'll have to find a nice green to put under Greensmoke. Some shades just don't look good on their own, but work ok when used with another shadow.

I like Greensmoke with a nice creamy green base underneath (like a paint pot). I use the McQueen Pharaoh pp under it and it shows up a lot better and it makes the color really pretty I bet you could use any pp though.

The whole reason that I bough Greensmoke was to do a look that I saw on youtube by jinahchae where she blended sumptuous olive and greensmoke. Check it out, it might give you some ideas:

Matte 2's are my fave texture to work with after VP. All of my Matte 2's have huge dents in them and Clarity is my favourite bright...i guess to each their own

hehe, Cork is my most used eyeshadow, I guess difference in skintone plays a part. I love Cork in the crease for my neutral eye/bold lips looks

and i agree with green smoke - this color looks so pretty in the pan and I get tricked into this color some days and forget what a huge disappointment it is - no color pay off and green glitter chunks all over my face

Beauty marked looks so gorgeous in the pot. It's a shame that the texture isn't very nice at all, and the sparkles in it only transfer if the shadow is used wet .

I Think Beauty Marked should be avoided...it looks soo pretty but when I applied it on...oh man its like a chalky version of black-tied.

Re: Which Mac shadows should be avoided?
I have been unhappy with Greensmoke. It's a gorgeous deep green color with some glitter, but the application takes forever to build up. I know I'm using the right kind of brush, I even asked the girls at MAC. Unfortunately I think it's the formulation of it and it just doesn't get picked up easily by any kind of brush. It takes a lot of time and patience to build the color. I wish MAC would recreate the color with a new formulation.

I had trouble getting Jest to go on smooth and look natural. It was way too frosty and seemed thick.

Re: Which Mac shadows should be avoided?
I wouldn't avoid Black Tied but just warn that it's hard to build up coverage & it applies blotchy, it's sad that not much of the sparkle shows either
There maybe people who disagree but that is my experience, blah!
I find it's the same with Dark Soul pigment too

Re: Which Mac shadows should be avoided?
^^ I had this problem with Juxt as well. It was one of my first MAC eyeshadows and I must admit I was so disappointed. However I bought Steamy at the same time...and loved it...thus MAC was (thankfully) redeemed!
