i love all my MSF's.I always use them as e/s highlighters. Also if I wanna go all out with a super super bling bling JLo glow then I use it all over my face.Sometimes if I just want it light I use it under foundation or just on the cheeks with a little CCB.

Mineralize Skin Finish - basic facts
Ok, I keep hearing about them. I just need to know,(1) when they came out, (2) what's so special about them, (3) what did they originally sell for (4) and which one would you recommend for someone is is NC42? Thanks for the help, because I'm really trying to understand what the big deal is. I am fairly new to a MAC obsession, so I'm interested in learning. TIA

1) They were released with collections in 2004 and 2005. There are 10 (Pleasureflush, So Ceylon, Porcelin Pink, Shimpagne, Gold Deposit, New Vegas, Metal Rock, Stereo Rose, Petticoat, and Naked You).
2) They are baked mineral based powders and add a lovely glow to the skin. They are used as highlighters mainly, or the darker ones can be used as blush or bronzers.
3) $22.50 originally, then the latest release had them for $23.50
4) Gold Deposit, Metal Rock, So Ceylon, Stereo Rose.
They are pretty hard to find and usually sell for nearly twice the retail price (if not more) on here and on Ebay.

For me the thing about MSFs is the huge amount of product you get. These puppies will last a long time. Also, they are multi-use (face and body), which is great.
If you can hold out, there seems to be some fairly consistent rumours that new MSFs will be coming out this fall (pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease).
Oh and you know they are just so damn nice to look at.

if you live near a CCO you may wanna look there first, b/c they've been spotted there, also if you live in a "slow" area you might find one at a counter (one about an hr from my house had naked you a few weeks back), or you could just wait for the new ones (that's what I'm doing)

I wanted to check these out too...I'm taking a trip to my CCO on Saturday. I'm crackin' up over here about the " 'slow' areas" That's hilarious to me

Skip the MAC ones and get the Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick, far superior quality imo and you can use it as eyeshadow too!

I personally don't like the bobbi brown shimmer bricks because they are too frosty. My counter still has in Naked You and Petticoat. Please PM me if you want my counters info, they ship.

the bobbi brown shimmer brick made me look like a snowman, because the finishes were so frosty. i didn't find the colors complementary at all, especially since i'm really tan. plus they are much more expensive than the mac ones. once again though, everyone is different.
i love MSFs and have all 9 except pleasureflush, plus backups of some of them. i'm an nc42 as well, and stereo rose, so ceylon, and gold deposit work the best on me. metal rock is too dark, though i wear it with either new vegas or shimpagne over it, to lighten the tone. i'd highly recommend MSFs, as i use them daily, and still haven't even made a dent in the product. one thing to consider, though, if ordering online, make sure the seller realizes how damn fragile they are. i've heard horror stories of them shattering in the mail.

I still haven't used my Naked You yet. I think it has too much shimmer for me and I love shimmer. I have to play with it more before I decide to give it away or sell it.

Me220, you could probably also wear Petticoat and you can still find those around for a decent price. New Vegas and Naked You seem to be the more glittery ones released.

very true. petticoat, i think, is pretty universal. it works well on everyone i know. plus, if you get one with a tad more raspberry colored veining, it looks GREAT on darker skin tones. plus, i find it smells lovely, lol.

My first experience was Metal Rock, which looks really dark, but when applied it just gives a wonderful kind of bronzy glow to my skin, without looking like I have anything on it, like blusher or something. It was very different! I also love my Naked You, and have a backup, altho I can get that shade using a little Tan Pigment, which also doesn't have glitter or anything in it. I have several of these, but the Metal Rock & Naked You are my favorites!

When was Pleasureflush released and what's so special about it that people are willing to fork so much for it? I don't understand the whole Pleasureflush craze seriously.

I reckon it's just thought of as special because it was the oldest? I dunno, still pretty new to the MSF thing.
Did Stereo Rose MSF come out with Rebelrock? What a moron I was to not pay attention, but I'm in the game now, I have Petticoat and use it soooo much. It seems to get me compliments too. Actually, mine was sent over from Canada and it arrived safe and sound! No shattering! Woo woo!

I was at my local MAC store yesterday and the MA confirmed there WILL be more MSFs coming this fall. She told me 6 colors are planned for release, and 2 will be re-promotes. These 2 will most likely be Naked You and New Vegas.
The rest of the colors will belong the the bronze/peach family. Now, this is what I heard, and I can't wait for them all!!!

I went to Update about 2 weeks ago. And my senior trainer let us know that the mineralizers wouldnt be reappearing this summer like they did last year... but instead we will feature the beauty powders.
The msf's will return in the fall. Sad but supposedly true.

Here is a series of photos that I did using only MSF both wet and dry on my entire face.
MSF are beautiful when scraped off and then mixed with glycerin and water and then applied to eyes and as underbrow highlighter.
They are also beautiful when used the same way on lips and a light layer of gloss over them. As you can see in this collection I have done that for eyes and lips.
If using any MSF that you are not sure of , I always put on a good base underneath just to be safe.
