Tips In Hiding Imperfections
1) Start by buying two shades of concealer - one that matches your foundation to hide broken capillaries, pimples, and brown spots, and a lighter one for under-eye use.
2) Always use a synthetic-bristle concealer brush for application. It reaches into tiny spaces and does a more precise job than fingers alone.
3) Whether covering under-eye circles or blemishes the process is essentially the same. However, it's important for concealer used under the eyes to have a sheerer consistency, so mix in a dab of your eye cream for natural-looking coverage and extra moisture.
4) Using your brush, dot (don't rub) the concealer wherever needed then tap lightly over it with the pad of your finger. Body heat makes concealer more pliable.
5) Use concealer sparingly and build as needed. A little goes a long way.
6) Set it in place with a light dusting of face powder over top.

Comments:
On the go, I keep Dior Skin Flash in my purse. It already has a nice brush for application with it.
For occasional red areas, I will use a concealer with a yellow base to it. In M.A.C., I will use the NC concealer.

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
My Mom really likes using the product called you're bluffing by Benefit Cosmetics for hiding red spots. This product is really yellow. I have tried it, but I found it was too yellow for me. It's a stick form. She and I have different undertones.
The SkinFlash Radiance Booster Pen by Dior has a consistency similar to a foundation, so I do not find it heavy for a touch up.
If you desire a pen style concealer with a brush with heavier consistency, you may want to test out Lancome Flash Retouche.

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
I actually use a 5 color palette from MUFE that has 5 shades that are closer to my skin tone so it doesn't contain the yellow or green concealers most people talk about but it does have 1 that's my exact shade 1 that's a shade lighter 1 a shade darker an orange and 1 more I've had it for months and just learned how ot make it look right....

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
The brushes that I use are Bobbi Brown concealer brush and/or M.A.C. 242. What brushes do you find very useful for application of concealer?
Also, I find that Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is good for dusting over the concealer. It does not add any color to it.

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
I like the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage brush - it has a pointed tip, so I can get a very precise concealer application. Great for using with highly pigmented concealers, as it does not apply too much at a time.

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
I have tried many concealers from different brands. So, I am always trying to find that perfect concealer. I wanted to mention that Bobbi Brown was really good: Creamy Concealer, Creamy Concealer Kit with powder, Corrector, and even the Tinted Eye Brightener.
The Tinted Eye Brightener is a bit different than regular concealer. I found it more like a highlighter of dark areas, but I could even put it on top of everything else. Just need a touch of this product with a brush. I really like it.
I really like M.A.C., but it's getting dry towards the bottom of the container. I don't know why this is happening. I have not had that happen with Bobbi Brown.
Please share what concealers you really like.

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
I am defiantly going to check out the suggestion by MsChrys79. I like the idea of a palette of colors. I could mix the colors to the level desired.
MzzRach, thank you for your reply. The tip of the brush does make a difference.

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
My face has so much red in it, it is a joke. I use green based primers. Just tried the Pure Luxe on based on the tut for acne that someone did (can't remember her name) and it is awesome. I also like MUFE green HD primer. I used the Pure Luxe banana under my eyes to hide the purple circles. I was quite happy!

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
I cannot stand concealer brushes, and I've tried alot... I recently bought a fluffy eyeshadow brush(the clinique eyeshader) and I either buff it on with that or if I'm not in a hurry I completey 'pat' it on just using my pinkie!

I have never heard of Pure Luxe. Thank you!
I am hearing wonderful replies about MUFE. I know where I am going tomorrow.

You bring up a good point. Each line has their own distinct type of brushes. The Bobbi Brown one that I use is quite different from M.A.C. I use them for different types of application & products.
I would encourage people to shop around and test different lines to find the ones they like the best.
Yes, I use my weakest finger to do any fine blending as needed.

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
Personally I use Select Moisturecover for my undereyes. It covers well but is light in texture.
Laura now has the Undercover Pots. One concealer for blemishes on the face and one for under the eye, and a pot of translucent powder for setting.
I also really like Laura's Secret Camo powder.

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
For girls with acne scars and discoloring all over like me, concealer is the way to go, not foundation. I do a very, very light layer of foundation, then I spot conceal in the areas with the most scars (cheeks, middle of forehead, chin). Because there's no way a dinky concealer brush can actually cover all these spots without me doing spot by spot for an hour, I use a foundation brush after using Urban Decay's concealer pencil to draw streaks across where I need it. I also do a dab on each side of my nose and blend well into the wings to hide discolorations there.
Because the foundation is barely there and I spot-conceal only where needed in the problem areas, it looks effortless and natural. Ever since I started using this method (and I got to it by trial and error), I've gotten dozens and dozens (not even kidding) of compliment on how great my skin is. But of course I know better! Just kidding, my skin is as good as it's ever been.
Anyway, this method might not be for everyone. The best advice I can give anyone is to read everyone's advice, try different things, and find out what works for you!

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
To apply it (MUFE concealer) before I rub/pat it (MUFE concealer) in I use either my Sephora concealer brush or my BE concealer brush they work pretty good to me. but lately since my session with the MAC MA i've been using my foundation as a concealer instead of actual concealer.... she told me to use my stippling with my SFF and then use my 190 as a concealer brush using foundation as concealer....I've been doing it and love the way it looks...
she was saying that the way the bristles are shaped makes a difference and because the 190's bristles are packed together it makes a good concealer brush and I totally agree....
HTH!

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
I mix different shades of concealers because I still have yet to find a perfect match. It's because I get darker or lighter depending on the time of year. I learned this after using the wrong shade of concealer and it looked awful in pictures!

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
i have acne scaring on my cheeks and i find using liquid all over the face really harsh for everyday.
i found that after primer, do the undereye concealer, mineral foundation, and then use studio sculpt or your concealer of choice with 187 or whatever brush u like to build over the cheek scarring. certain formulas work better without caking. i like select coverup and studio sculpt to cover my cheeks... and i also use a sheer green mineral concealer to counter the redness
i've heard pink concealer (nw) for undereyes

Re: Tips In Hiding Imperfections
I use Benefit's Erase Paste for undereyes, it's one of the best concealers I've tried. My other favourite is Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer.
For acne scars, I cover them with Missha's M Perfect Cover BB Cream #23 and MUFE Full Coverage Concealer.

I use various colors of corrector - these can be in peach, green, lilac or yellow. After that I use my concealer which is a similar shade to the foundation, but a tiny bit lighter. It is good to have two tones of concealer: one lighter, one exact same color in order to mix. On brown spots, I use the yellow corrector. On blemishes, I use a special blemish corrector usually medicated.. don't use the same product on blemishes as they usually cover but contain oils so they might make a problem worse

pink corrector works great on greenish tinged under eye circles.. if they are red, use the green corrector
