Re: Counterfeit Nars - Post your possible counterfeit items here
Just letting you all know that eBay seller 'vimygirl' sells fake NARS. I got a blush from her and it is similar to the ones pictured in Risser's post. In the item description the seller had a picture but it was very blurred and I think she might have photoshopped out the NARS logo on the blush. She is a Canadian seller too so looks like these ugly fakes are circulating the world.

Question about weird nars packaging with picture
I just got this e/s from a swap on MUA...I really want to reverse the swap now..but I look at the e/s and feel kinda confuse now..
It's the weirdest packaging of all..well at least for me. The front side of the e/s is pretty much loosing its velvet-ty Nars typical packaging..it looks like someone had scratch the sh**t out of it (can they actually do that?). Right now it looks and feel like you're touching and looking at remote control (a black one of course) Is this even normal?? Or is it possibly fake?
She didnt include the box nor the plastic insert..so I'm just wondering..what should i do now? Should i reverse the swap?? Please please help me

Re: Question about weird nars packaging with picture
I have never seen that colour in the NARS line over the years....China Blue is close. The way real NARS packaging gets shiny is to be cleaned with some heavier disinfectants that include solvents. NARS packaging doesn't scratch easily.

Re: Question about weird nars packaging with picture
After a while, you can get sparkley stuff on the back from having it stored with pigments, shadows, etc that have come loose. My concern is that this colour is non existant in the NARS line, and I do not remember every seeing it over the last decade. I had a book with old NARS colours and still I found nothing like that. Even if it was genuine, its ancient and the preservative would be shot. I have had NARS packaging that lost its rubbery feel before from exterior cleaning.

Re: Question about weird nars packaging with picture
I'm not worried about the product's housing, I'm worried about the quality of the actual product. The preservatives may have broken down.

Re: Question about weird nars packaging with picture
The color Gigi is legit, right now though I only see it available on the UK NARS website as part of one of the artist palettes. Are you located in Europe or did you swap it with someone from the there? It may have been a shade exclusive to Europe. I have never seen this color on the US website or any counter I have been to in the US. I will look through my NARS manual tomorrow to double check. The front of the packaging does not look right to me though. I will try to get you a solid answer, but that is what I know now. Does this shadow have the same velvety texture as your other NARS shadows?

Re: Question about weird nars packaging with picture
now im in cali..I swapped it with a girl here in US too..maybe i was just too paranoid..coz i know that they have this color in UK website (thats how i found out) and i'm pretty sure that this is limited UK only..since I couldnt find it anywhere in here...i was thinking..maybe coz we dont have it here..she's playing a crazy game on me..since I cant bring it to any counter to prove that it's fake or something...its just bugging me..coz that thing really weird looking and she did not stated it on her listing...I'm just happy if that thing is legit now..I'll let it go....we'll see..
Thanks for your help girls!!

Re: Question about weird nars packaging with picture
It looks like the swapper's been cleaning the front bit fervently with household cleaner and left the back dirty. My compacts lose the rubberised feel the more I clean them (and they get so dirty, so easily!)
Also, the product might be fairly old - Gigi has been discontinued I think?

Re: Counterfeit Nars - Post your possible counterfeit items here
BNIB 100% Authentic NARS duo eyeshadow ANGELIKA 408 on eBay, also, Eye Shadow, Make-Up Cosmetics, Health Beauty (end time 26-Sep-08 00:13:13 BST)
Seller riga7981 has auction for eyeshadow duo called Angelika 408. There's at least 3 problems with this item:
- Angelika is blush shade
- why is there a number code (authentic items have code in the box, but that has 4 didgits)
- the design wrong (the pans are bigger)
BTW, I find that the best way to clean Nars packacing is with damp microfiber cloth - you don't need to use chemicals that might break down the rubbery surface.

Re: Counterfeit Nars - Post your possible counterfeit items here
Thanks Risser for the detailed pics, very helpful. I just bought a blush from ebay which I thought was a fake. It's weird because it does not have the pictured traits, but the net wt on the compact reads 0.15 oz (the box it came in reads (0.16 oz) and all the rest of my nars reads 0.16 oz on the compact (got these from Sephoria). Should I still be concerned?
Cute dwarf hamster, ours look just like that, her name is Emmie-M.
After viewing pics again, the one I purchase doesn't have the embossed "container made in italy" on it, it has nothing and the size of the pan is smaller! Have I been tricked! I purchased it from Worldcosmeticsinc off ebay.

Re: Counterfeit Nars - Post your possible counterfeit items here
Ok my botan brush came:
first impressions-
Touch: So so soft, lushious feeling brush and no matter what this is a cracking buy for a little more than £10, real or not im not sending it back!
Looks: Its very dense, and the item and packaging looks A+
Issues: Shedding when brush is flicked
dye loss when shampooed - brush shedding when shampooed
can anyone confirm shedding and dye loss for me with their brushes
Now onto the pics!
 shedding

dye, it started off a reddish ruddy brown but ran blue black till I washed it clear
Surely a £55 brush wouldnt shed or have dye loss? Post please if your real one has
either which way for a tenner it is a cracking brush

There is no way someone would sell their brush for $20 or $30 when it costs $75. If the price looks to good to be true, well that's your first sign. Also the plastic tube that houses the brush has no breaks (sorry, not sure how to explain this). Anyway, the clear tube the brush comes in is smooth all around, yours looks to be glued together at the sides. Also take a closer look at the base of the outer bristles, if you see some red then it's real if it's solid black then fake. From your pics the top of the brush is pretty uneven and the brush is not as full as mine. Another good indicator is when washing it the first time, it bleeds black (not brown but black). Again, sorry that you got a fake. It makes me so mad that people with a lots of good feedback end up being jerks

Re: Counterfeit Nars - Post your possible counterfeit items here
^ agreed, im pretty much 100% that its fake
still I am happy with the brush, its really nice and was only £10 I can put up with some minor shedding
the fact is she was putting it up with the pretense that it was a labelled genuine Nars Botan
Ive messaged her to ask where she sourced it and if she has any proof of it being genuine, giving her a chance before I report her to ebay
its a good fake and a really really nice brush
but a fake none the less
I'll be buying a real one from a Nars store soon, and then I can post some comparisons as some are circulating hopefully it can help people.
At a tenner it was a flag up, but if someone has one as a buy it now for £50 instead of £55 would you be so skeptical?

Re: Counterfeit Nars - Post your possible counterfeit items here
Seller called nylaw33 is listing many shades of fakes:
If you look closely you will notice the pressed "NARS" on the surface.
That seller has fake Mac listed as well.

Re: Counterfeit Nars - Post your possible counterfeit items here
Wow I agree those fakes do look horrible..Nars does not stamp the interior, the actual blush product, with their logos..and thanks for detailing the differences of the framing around the blush also..very helpful.
