NARS brown based lipsticks: Strange Smell?

I bought NARS Napoli sheer lipstick back in May. When I got it home, it smelled like rotted crayons and was dry and crumbly, so i returned it immediately.

The sales lady who helped me with the exchange let me smell a few other Napoli's. None of them smelled like rotted crayons, but they all had a cloying, acrid smell.

The saleslady told me that all NARS brown based lipsticks have a strange smell, and that the smell comes from the pigment used. I went ahead and bought it since she said that was normal, and now here it is September and the smell of that lipstick makes me not want to wear it, and I'm worried it's going bad. I have six other NARS lipsticks, all red based, and none of them smell this way.

So, does anyone else have any brownish NARS lipsticks that smell kind of strange, or did I just get another bad lipstick? I love the shade, and I'll order it off internet if mine is just bad.
