Unhappy Depotting issue
so i tried depotting my eyeshadows recently, unfortunately before i read the great tut on how-to. instead of using a blow-dryer or straight iron, i used an oven to depot. the first couple times i tried it, the eyeshadow came out wonderfully. however, when i depotted my "bang on blue" (one of my favorite colors i should add) i over baked it and now i can barely get color off it. is there any way i can get the eyeshadow to, i dont know the correct term, work again? or is there a very good replacement shadow out there i can use? PLEASE HELP ME!!

and from now on i will use the good tut i just read here. i promise.

Re: Depotting issue
Have you tried using it with some water or mixing medium on your brush? It might help get the color off?
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, I've never had that happen before.

Re: Depotting issue
Wrong forum, you should put this under recommendations, just reference for next time . If you put the eyeshadow in the oven chances are that the heat messed with the chemical structure of the eyeshadow. I don't think that there is anything that you can do for it now . Check the swatch thread and the dupe thread, you may be able to find dupes for your e/s in those places.

Re: Depotting issue
try to take a spoolie and scrape the top layer off. It may not make it new again but it helps at least.

Re: Depotting issue
As an aside, instead of using heat to depot my shadows, I use rubbing alcohol to melt the glue. I use EnKore's tutorial on YouTube, that way you don't have to smell the toxic fumes from the melting plastic.

I agree, the EnKore's method of depotting is much better IMO. Not only is it safer for the product (no changes in the consistency/payoff and so on of the shadow) but also for you - no "plastic fumes" or danger of heat injuries...
