Pros: natural, luminous, not too matte, not shimmery
My go-to face powder is MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Plus. It tones down excessive shine without looking chalky, dusty, or too matte (i don't like purely matte) because it has a slight luminescence. It lives in my handbag makeup kit along with a collapsible travel brush and a little travel mirror (there's no mirror in the compact).
I use it a variety of ways.
I usually use it as a finishing powder over my foundation -- i'm back to testing for the perfect color and finish -- i'm between MAC 15 and 20 and Neutral toned. I apply it in the center of my forehead, on my nose, apples of my cheeks (not up my cheekbones), and chin, because i have mild rosacea and my makeup tends to melt off those hot red places, even with primer.
Some days, i just dot a little concealer on my dark spots (hey, i'm over 60 :-), and add a layer of MSFN to even out my skin tone and give that "finished" look.
I love it because it is not too matte, not too chalky or talc-y, yet it is not shimmery or glittery -- i like that shimmer or even glitter in a blush or highlighter, but not my all-over face powder. MSFN tones down shiny areas, without making my skin look dead and lifeless the way purely matte powders do.
I'm amazed that i may be hitting pan soon, because i rarely like a product so much i use it up. But that's what's happening with my MSFN!
