MAC Paint Pot

Pros: Easy to Use, Great Texture, Good Colour Payoff

Cons: Can Dry Out, Can Crease After Hours of Wear

I bought my first paint pot a couple of years ago and I am still using it! I bought it in the color Bare Study (a frosty champagne) to use as an eyeshadow base.

The great things about this product are its pigmentation (for most colors) and texture. I especially like the texture of the frostier ones better, it is smooth and creamy. The matte ones are not bad, I simply prefer the frosty ones more. You can apply these with a clean finger or a brush, I tend to use my finger because it is easier to blend. I will wear this color by itself or as a base for whatever eyeshadow I want to wear; I don't find that the frostiness of Bare Study interferes at all with the overall finish of the eyeshadow that I place on top of it. I love how I can sweep this on my lid, put on some mascara and walk out the door looking nice.

This product can dry out if you don't close the lid tight after every use, I have yet to deal with any dryness problems from this product and I have owned this paint pot for over two years. Another con is that this product lasts only about 8-10 hours on me, but even then it is only just starting to crease on my eyelid.

This product is available in a lot of different colors, although sadly most of the brighter colors are often either limited edition with collections or they have been discontinued from the permanent line.

Overall I adore this product and will be buying it again. It works great as an eyeshadow base and as a stand alone eyeshadow, and a little goes a long way. I highly recommend this product.

Pros: great eyeshadow base!!

Cons: application

LOOOVE PAINTERLY!!! I seriously use it everyday as a primer/base. Not once have I had problems with creasing. Highly recommended!

Pros: Blends well,creamy consistency

Cons: Dries out, doesn't make eye shadows very vibrant, dries chalky

I have the soft ocher paint pot and I have to say I'm not a big fan. For the price I paid for it I was expecting it to make my eye shadows really pop and keep them from creasing. It did keep them from creasing all day long but it was sorta difficult to apply my shadows over the top after the product dried on my lid, it turned to a very chalky consistency and I had to grind my shadows into it.... Maybe I was working to slow? Maybe it works better with lighter skin tones (im Nc50 ish) Idk but I'm not a fan so far. I still favor my NYX jumbo pencil in milk....even tho it creases like hell.

Pros: Interesting colours and long lasting

Cons: Scaly texture in some of the colours, dry in others.

I have five different ones- Blackscape, Painterly, Bare Study, Quite Natural, Constructivist and Rubenesque.

My favourite is Blackscape, without a doubt, followed by Bare Study.

The others are flawed, at least on me. They turn out scaly and/or dry.

I much prefer the Benefit creaseless cream eyeshadows.

Pros: good eyeshadow primer

Cons: dry, colors aren't varied enough

I have a couple paint pots and I rarely use them. I use painterly the more than the other color (don't remember its name), but I do not like them as much as the paints.   I think the paint pots are too dry.  They do work, but I think they soak up more eyeshadow color than the regular paints do.  I also don't like the fact that you have to dip your brush into the product or remove the product to avoid contamination...which is annoying, especialy considering they are drier than paints.  I think mac should consider making some brighter permanent paint pots. Only so much you can do with a bunch of neutrals.

Pros: creamy, pigmented, dries quickly

Cons: creases if worn alone on oily lids

I love this product I have Painterly, Groundwork, Delft, and Blackground. Perfect for use as an eyeshadow base. I prefer to use this product with my fingers for better control but please do what works for you.
