MAC Pro Longwear SPF10 Foundation

Pros: Long-lasting, minimal transfer, natural feeling

Cons: Horrible colours, bad for photography

So I bought this foundation in NW45 and kept it for a week. I tried my best to convince myself that this would be my first MAC liquid foundation purchase but I mostly wear foundation to take pictures in when I go out and this is HORRIBLE for taking pics. The SPF is too high- your face is ashy and glowing when your picture is taken. Also the colouring was way off- when I first put on the NW45 it looks slightly ashy but after like an hour when the oils in your skin break through that's when it starts to look more like your colour. Also it can look patchy if you don't apply it properly (which I never found out how to). I even tried going for the NW50 but that was even ashier! (SOO weird)

I thought this was going to be my holy grail foundation in that it was of medium coverage, somewhat natural looking (more natural looking than SFF) and had minimal transfer but I guess I'll have to keep using up my MUFE Matte Velvet foundation in #80 (too dark and red and too much coverage) till I can find something that looks natural on my multi-toned skin:s

I think I'll go see if I can find something from Bobbi Brown lol

Pros: LongWear, for oily skin

Cons: It certainly has a longwear for me, and it does control my oily skin specially the T zone

I have been using this foundation, and so far I love it!  its great for my oily skin and  of course its longwear I use it when I go to school, which is tue-friday. and it does gives me a nice coverage, the only kinda bad thing is that my drugstore concealer doesnt seem to apply very well with the actual foundation, but I'll see what I do about it

Pros: Good coverage; Is truly a long lasting foundation

Cons: Difficult to apply; cakey look

This foundation didn’t work on my skin. The pros are: good coverage and evens out skin tone. The big problem is that looks cakey and accentuates every imperfection I might have. To apply is a pain because I can see the brush lines on my skin, it’s terrible to blend. I achieve a not so bad look with the sigma F80. The worst part is that my skin looks so shiny (not like a healthy skin shine) and sticky.

Pros: *Long-lasting, natural looking// *NO transfer// *Great packaging

Cons: *It dries fast// *Hard to work with

ABOUT ME:

It took me about 5 years to finally try MAC foundations. I have always been a Clinique liquid base kinda girl and I knew that with my fair skin, that was a pretty safe choice.

After getting tired of always repurchasing the same product over and over again, I decided to give MAC a shot. Don´t get me wrong, the rest of the products they always come up with… I absolutely LOVE…it was foundations I was a bit afraid of. I am out of home about 11 hours a day, at least…and I hate retouching my makeup, even though I sweat quite a lot. In addition to this, I prefer medium coverage and oil free products.

SKIN TYPE:

Let’s get started: I have a combination skin that can break out every now and then, but it is not 100% oily. My complexion shade is VERY LIGHT and neutral so I can wear both NC and NW but I have to be careful because I do have some redness and acne scars.

HOW DID I END UP TRYING THIS PRODUCT?

After trying F&B and SFF…I gave up. I started with face and body N2 during the summertime and decided that wanted a heavier base so the MA at the counter recommended me Studio Fix Fluid in NW20. Why did I even listen to her? NW is way too dark for me and the transfer that you get goes EVERYWHERE. rants.gifBeautiful if you have to get your picture taken or if you want to film a video or something…in real life that is what I call full coverage.  I like it but not for an everyday use…so I went back to mac and told the MA that i wanted a product that wouldn’t transfer. She said that the only one they had was Pro longwear but that with my skin type it wouldn’t look good. So I told her: “This time let’s go for an NC15 and let’s see how it looks on me”. After a 15 minutes argument, she gave in and I proved her wrong. Not only I am an NC, but the foundation looks like I have nothing on. AMAZING.pompom.gifyay

PROS:

*It does what it says: a very long-lasting formula with no transfer at all. I had it on yesterday for about 16 hours and it was still looking fine at the end of my day.

*The packaging is great because the bottle comes with a pump so you can get just the right amount.

*And little goes a long way, with just one pump you are ready to go (depending- of course- on your taste).

*It gives you a sheer look, not matte but not shimmery and it feels like you have nothing on…natural finish.

CONS:

*It dries fast…so you need to find your own way to apply it.

*You need a very good moisturizer before applying it…it can take some time getting used to it.

This will be my go to foundation for a daily use bigheart.gif

Pros: Long lasting, feels like there is nothing on, comes with a pump

Cons: dries quickly, seems to oxidize

I have been using this foundation everyday for 8 months now. In the beginning as always the make-up artist at MAC just love to match me up with dark red foundations like they always do, which is one of the reasons why i strayed from MAC in the first place. I needed a foundation that stayed on my face, didn't oxidize, melt, or find its way on my work documents via fingers touching face (yes i touch my face a lot with or without makeup).

I went through ELDW and Revlon Colorstay and then this baby came out. I love MAC always have and this peeked my interest to go back and give them another shot. I am glad I did at first they matched me with NC50 which was way too red and dark for me so i went back for a the next color up NC45 which is a perfect match (and the makeup artist was hesitant to give me it but i insisted for once)

This is more of a medium coverage. In my opinion the finish is not quite matte but in between matte and dewy along with blurring all the imperfections out letting your skin shine through and not looking mask like. I only use one pump for my whole face and do one section at a time as this dries quickly and its harder to blend when it sets.

I have yet to break out from this foundation and it does not irritate my eyes as a lot of foundations do due to their fragrances.

Removing this isn't a hassle either since i used ELDW which was pretty heavy and hard to take off i use both neutrogena and clean and clear oil free makeup dissolving foam.

i will surely purchase this foundation again in the future.

EDIT: So i still love this foundation however it seems to oxidize on me. I guess my skin is weird because this would start to melt off my face when i sweat. So I ended up switching foundations to the studio sculpt which is a better color match and seems to last longer on me then this.

The color would be fine when i first apply but in the middle of the day I look like an oompaloompa.

Oh well trail and error..on to the next one.

Pros: Long Lasting, Doesnt rub off, Doesnt feel like youre wearing makeup

Cons: Color, Bad pictures

Sooo like my title says i have a love/hate relationship w/this foundation...i inititally got it because i was tired of my makeup rubbing off on people && my clothes...my husband is alot darker than me && everytime we would hug or get close my makeup would get on his face && he'd look like he had baby powder on or something lol so i had to do something! I went to my local MAC counter and just bought my original shade NC30...went home && tried it on and it was too dark...so the color match was a little difficult i ended up settling for NC25...another thing with this product is the white cast you get in pictures...its horrible...what i do love about this product is that it does stay on for a long time...and it feels really light on the skin...it also has great coverage...i use this for everyday wear like for work and running errands...but i will have to use something else for going out and pictures.

Pros: controls oil, semi-matte, comes with a pump

Cons: needs to be used with moisiterizer, dries fast before blended

I personally love this foundation, I have extremely oily skin, but with this foundation I don't as much, it dries like a glue to your face. All I have to do is apply, and apply powder, whether loose, or the mineralize skinfinish on top. When I blot with blotting papers, there is hardly any oil on it. I have not taken any pictures with it, so I don't know how it photographs. As far as the color being ashy or to light, I let it settle, and by the time I put on my bronzer, it's just right, I get more compliments on my makeup now then ever!! If you have extremely oily skin, give it a try. I like to use the MAC brush #130 to apply it.

Pros: Works great with the Pro Longwear Concealer, Didn't Flake

Cons: They don't have my shade

I initially thought I was an NW45 so I happily bought that shade (turns out I only use NW45 for Studio Fix Powder, but NW43 in liquid) and applied it. According to the MUA, this product and Studio Fix have the same shades.

After using this for two days I had to give up on it as it was way too dark. I took it back to the store with hopes of just getting my NW43 but it seems NW43 is not available for this product. So I ended up swapping it for Studio Fix Liquid.

It's not a bad foundation at all though and I'd have loved a foundation that lasted all day without the need for primer. Shame :/

Cons: Ashy, dry, color is off

I used to wear Estee Lauder Double Wear in Truffle.  That color is now a little too light so I tried this foundation in NW45.  In MAC foundations, I'm usually between an NW45 and NW47.  The NW45 looked great in the store but once I got a good look in a regular mirror, it was super ashy.  It's difficult to apply with a brush, sponge and your fingers.  I wanted to love this item but it's going back. I love that it has a pump attached to it already and it would be easy to travel with.

Pros: Nice finish and consistency, doesnt oxidize

Cons: shades are off, dries too fast

This is the first MAC foundation I have purchased in years. I bought this because I love the pro longwear concealer...this product ehhh not so much.

I was matched to NC45 and in the store noticed how this looked lighter than the regular NC45 which was fine with me. I walked around the mall for 2 hours and it didnt oxidize so it was a go for me.

After a week of wearing this foundation I noticed: The color was EXTREMELY yellow...it dries very fast and is unflattering in photos (have the pictures to prove it , lol). On a good note it did a decent job of dealing with my oily skin, I didnt feel like I was wearing foundation and I liked the semi matte finish. It's not all bad...but if I could have the finish of this foundation without an spf and a better shade selection it would be perfect.
