  2. #2
yes, it is very easy! I would keep the receipt. Otherwise, they will give you store credit.

I have returned/exchanged many items and NEVER had a problem!! I usually exchange but I have returned a few times not got anything else.
    They are always great!

I've only returned one thing, via mail, but they took it back without question.
I wish I had as much invested in my 401K as I do in makeup.

    Sephora return policy?

What is Sephora's return policy? I had a "I hate my job" haul on Tuesday and in my buying frenzy I picked up Nars Sunset duo instead of Medieranee! I didn't even look at the sticker on the side, I just picked up the one behind the tester If it was a different one I might just keep it, but I really don't like this one. And I want my bright pretty orange!

Will the let me bring it back and exchange it (even though it was totally my fault)?

And how long do I have to return it? I had to drive kind of far to get there and probably won't be able to get back there for another week and a half. At least I got a bunch of other goodies to keep me company until I go back-- Nars Outlaw blush, UD 24-7 liner in Baked (they were out of the green and blue ones!), and UD shadows in Shattered, Vert, X, and Hot Pants.

But of course the one I REALLY wanted was the Mediteranee.

    It's a 60 day policy. I'm pretty sure they'll let you exchange! =)

I have returned things before just because I didn't like it once I got it home & saw it in a different light. I have never had any problems, they've always been great about returns

They never even ask me why I am returning an item.
I've even returned online items instore and mailed them back with no problem.

This is the online policy but it's the same as the instore policy

yes they are great. and if you aren't near a store, you can even mail the item to them and they'll mail you back a merch credit OR if you used a CC they can just credit your account back.

Simple. Easy. Painfree. I love Sephora!

the people at my sephora always give me hell when i bring something back. idk, maybe it's because i'm young or something, but they always think i'm just taking advantage of their return policy to try and ditch products when i figure out i'm not in love with them anymore. once i took back an UD shadow i bought online and the girl actually took it out of the box and inspected it REALLY closely and looked at me like "wtf" before telling me ok i could go pick another one.

i'm just trying to get the bang for my buck, that's all...i don't have a lot of money so whatever i buy, it's gotta be worth every penny. b*tches.
i'm not a pessimist, i just know what's going on.

I returned these brushes that I didn't like (it was a really cheap brush set) and I had the reciept, and they honoured the return! I've returned some used eyeshadow without a reciept that didn't work for me and they even returned those too, I just got a store credit, not that it matters since I would have spent cash there anyway lol.

Re: Sephora return policy/Is it easy to do returns?

I wanted to bump this to ask if Sephora throws away unused items like MAC does? I have a stila eye liner that I got as I gift and I want to exchange it. Will they toss it if it is brand new in its box. If they do I am just going to keep it. TIA!

Re: Sephora return policy/Is it easy to do returns?

The return policy depends on where you buy it . . . in-person in Sephora store or online. If you buy in-person or online, you can return it to a Sephora store. But if you are one of the unlucky ones that don't really have a Sephora store close to you (it's 2 hrs away from where I live), sometimes buying online is the only way. If you need to return an online order, you can only get a refund; there is no exchange allowed.

If you return something thru the mail, it will take longer. They state that a refund can take up to 30 days to process, and they are true to their word. I just returned something recently thru the mail and it took 30 days to get my refund. But I have never had a problem with Sephora not accepting my return and issuing a refund. The only problem is waiting as I'm impatient as it is. So now I just take the time to make my trip to Sephora in person.

Re: Sephora return policy/Is it easy to do returns?

Ive had to do a few returns at Sephora.com and i was perfectly able to do an exchange thru the mail. All i had to do was pay the extra shipping & Handling.Ive also done a return for a refund they will either credit your credit account or a quicker option is for them to credit your sephora account. That way it will be automatically applied to your next sephora order.Good option if your a frequent Sephora.com shopper!I think they have one of the best customer service ive ever come across. They will take anything back, even if opened and lightly used.No questions asked. If you dont like the product you just have to pay the S&H and you will get your refund for that item.If the return is there error, like items broken or wrong. They will pay the S&H and you get a full refund.Hope that helps

Re: Sephora return policy/Is it easy to do returns?

By the way my exchange was i had ordered something and didnt like the color so i called up and they did an exchange for the other color of the same product i wanted. So maybe they just dont do exchanges for totally different items. But the color exchange they accepted fine.

Re: Sephora return policy/Is it easy to do returns?

It has always been easy for me to return things to Sephora. Even if you don't have your receipt, they give you store credit for the current selling price. However if more than half of the item you are returning is paid for with store credit, you get everything back in store credit (even the portion that you paid for with cash or credit card).

Re: Sephora return policy/Is it easy to do returns?

I do all my Sephora exchanges/returns in person because I live 15 minutes away from a Sephora store. I never return things through the mail because I am way too impatient and I am scared of it getting lost or crushed (plus you gotta pay for shipping). But of course, if you don't live near a Sephora, then mail returns may be the only way to go.

Yes, always keep your receipts. Keep them for about a month before throwing them away and be aware of the time frame. If you don't have one, they can give you store credit.

Re: Sephora return policy/Is it easy to do returns?

It is easy to do returns at Sephora- part of the reason why I shop there. When I mail in my returns I never had to pay for the shipping- they give you a postage paid sticker and I just drop it off at my local USPS.
The downfall of doing it this way is - there is no tracking- and it does take a while to get it refunded- 2-3 weeks is the average for me.
However I have never had any problems with returning it via mail.
    In store is another issue.
About 95% of the time- I have no issues. Most of the SA are really nice and since it is their policy to 'gladly' take back stuff you are are not happy.
The one time I returned something at the Downtown Seattle store ( which I do not go to much- it's a PIA to go there ) The manager there was giving me a hard time- going in the back to check on something- before I was allowed to return it. Then they inspected my returns- which I don't mind- but they were really looking through them. I am not the type to use up then return- if I don't like it- I can tell after a a couple of tries. It just made me feel uncomfortable- another thing about that store was they were following me around and everytime I were to look at something- they asked me if I needed help like 5x in the 20 mins. I was there. I don't know if it's just becuase it was Downtown Seattle and they have a lot of thef but the other Sephora's I go to I don't have that issue.

What if you want to return something you bought in a different country?

Re: Sephora return policy/Is it easy to do returns?

They've just changed their return policy.

If you have the receipt, then it's business as usual - they'll just refund.

If you don't have a receipt, then they ask for a piece of state-approved picture ID (driver's license, for example), and they take down ALL your information - name, address, phone number. Then they issue only a store gift card, that you cannot use on the website.

From what I've heard, this was done both to curb chronic returners (especially those who buy in other, discounted locations or shoplift and 'return' for credit) and because of staff who were returning gratis in other stores.

As far as I know, they won't go so far as to ban people for chronic returns, and I wouldn't worry if you lose your receipt and want to return something every now and then. (If you're using a BI account or credit cards, they're tracking you anyway. I actually got an e-mail from Sephora asking me to rate a product I just bought. I had actually forgotten to use my BI card, so the only way they knew was because I used my credit card. CREEPY.)

I think it's really aimed more to stop gratis abuse (which is considered a termination-worthy offense).

I believe I read on their site- that you would get a refund back in a form a a store credit- at current price and local currency? So if they still carry it and it's in their system- they will take it back.
