It’s been a tumultuous ride for those seeking the MAC cosmetics Barbie fashion doll. Many were caught unaware when the collection launched on MAC’s website sometime late Sunday evening. The dolls stock was depleted online by early morning Monday, only hours after it was made available on the website. The frenzy was sparked Monday morning when it was realized the collection was online, and much of it already sold out. Many who had ordered the doll early Monday were later sent emails informing them their Barbie is “backordered” and will not be fufilled.

For kicks I decided to call around to the stores that have (or had) the dolls. West coast stores are opening right now and have people waiting in line in front of the store. One location in California I spoke with had 25 people patiently waiting out front, another in Arizona had only a handful but had issued “tickets” corresponding to the amount of dolls they had. Other stores that had already opened for the day flatly announced that they had “sold out” within moments of opening doors. All dolls are sold on a first come first serve basis, no shipping.

For those left out in the cold with this release, the next best bet to grab a MAC Barbie fashion doll is online @ http://barbiecollector.com. They briefly had the doll in stock Tuesday afternoon, but are now only accepting “reservations” for a future shipment. Good Luck!
