Jesel Named for MAC Role
By Julie NaughtonMAC Cosmetics is expected to announce today that Guillaume Jesel has been named vice president of global marketing for the brand.Jesel will replace Caroline Geerlings in the role. As reported, Geerlings was named senior vice president and general manager for Prescriptives Worldwide earlier this month.

Guillaume Jesel started the path of his career with the intent to become a French diplomat, however a fateful stint as Senior Financial Analyst at Ralph Lauren Business Wear introduced Jesel to the world of Beauty and there’s been no looking back. Working with Estee Lauder in executive roles for the past 7 years Jesel progressed rapidly through the corporate ranks and yesterday added a new feather to his cap Vice President of Global Marketing for MAC Cosemetics.

In a continuing effort to maximize leadership and management in a shifting global financial market Est©e Lauder’s current chief operating officer Dan Brestle will assume the post of vice chairman and president, ELC North America. In this newly created role, Brestle will continue to oversee the Est©e Lauder, M·A·C, Prescriptives and Tom Ford Beauty brands and the BeautyBank division on a worldwide basis. Group President John Demsey will continue leading the Prescriptives and Tom Ford Beauty brands.

“Given the toughening conditions in the critical U.S. marketplace, I’ve also given Dan a mandate to lead our North American business in a more cohesive way.”

“With this new responsibility, Dan will coordinate the Company’s efforts to better leverage our broad portfolio across multiple distribution channels in the U.S. and Canada,” said Lauder.

Fans can only hope that the progressive commercialization of a once indie brand, MAC Cosmetics, will not be exploited further by these management changes. Changes which are geared towards maximizing profits for brands under EL’s umbrella.
