MAC | Sneak Peek: Resolutely Red Lipstick from the Upcoming MAC in HD

By MAC_Whore on August 17, 2009

Resolutely Red (pictured at left) is a lustre, but not a shy one. It gives great, buildable colour. It is quite similar to Dubonnet. Like Dubonnet it has a mahogany, brick-red undertone to it, but Resolutely Red is lighter and appears a touch more red. Additionally, Dubonnet is an amplified cream so by the nature of its formula, it will go on thicker than Resolutely Red’s lustre formula.

Resolutely Red screams fall, it screams classic and it screams sexy. Definitely worth checking out. Just remember that whilst Resolutely Red is a great colour, if you already have Dubonnet, weigh the differences carefully as they may be too close to justify a purchase.

What do you think? Love? Like? Meh?

MAC | Sneak Peek: Cool Reserve from F/W Nail Trend 09 (by Jin Soon Choi)

By MAC_Whore on August 17, 2009

I have a new love. It’s pretty serious. We met and it was like fireworks. My husband will just have to understand. The object of my desire? I’m talking about Cool Reserve nail lacquer from MAC’s upcoming F/W Nail Trend 09 collection.

Jin Soon Choi got the height of manicuredom for a reason and that reason is utter genius! Remember all of the muted greys and lavenders of seasons past that we all adored? Cool Reserve nail lacquer is all those best-in-show polishes mixed into one brilliantly, amazing colour. It will be one of your spot-on fall faves. Neutral, yet edgy. Perfection.

    Swatches:
Top row, L-R:, OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques, OPI for Sephora’s Metro Chic, MAC’s Cool Reserve, MAC’s Love and Friendship
Bottom row, L-R:, OPI’s Done out in Deco, MAC’s Hello Kitty’s On The Prowl, OPI’s Parlez-Vous OPI, OPI for Sephora’s Call Your Mother

What do you think, loves?

MAC | Notable Blush from the Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection

By MAC_Whore on August 13, 2009

Notable blush from the upcoming Makeup Art Cosmetics collection is pretty unique as far as its comparison to other blushes in the regular MAC line. It is a terrcotta tinged, medium-dark rose. This blush was made for WoC and will especially rock on latina complexions. Us pale (I mean “porcelain”, lol) gals can wear it too, but I recommend a very light hand and applying it with a #187 to ensure a light touch. One thing in your favor is that it builds very gradually with this method; going from a sheer wash to a bold swatch of colour.

I know a good amount of you said you were considering skipping the blushes as there are soooo many eye products in this collection that will be stealing your cash, but take a look at this blush. Notable is, well, notable.

Here’s a swatch for you to love on…

Remember, this launches on 18 Aug on MACCosmetics.com and 20 Aug at counters. So who’s in for a Notable?

MAC | Maira Kalman’s Vision of Makeup Art Cosmetics

By MAC_Whore on August 12, 2009

We still chuckle (along with all of Manhattan) over the now-famous New Yorker cover illustration of “Newyorkistan.” Cheeky, witty, always amusing, Maira’s illustrations are cute and colourful, wonderfully child-like, playful…and sophisticated all at once. Technakohl Liners and Maira’s Magical thinking Eye Shadows are made for the MAC Artist with a sense of mischief and a deep desire to be defiantly different. Warm and eccentric at the same time, Maira’s faces are full of cock-eyed optimism, with the tiniest smidge of city-girl-snobbism…simply, scrumptiously, stupendously sublime!

MAC | Richard Phillips’ Vision of Makeup Art Cosmetics

By MAC_Whore on August 11, 2009

Andy Warhol did a cameo on The Love Boat in 1985…and in the same spirit, Richard Phillips’ 1998 painting, Spectrum, made its debut on the scandelous Gossip Girl – a sign of the times! Need we say more? Recylced and re-imagined ’50s,’60s, and ’70s ads and images, and every colourful issue ever considered when pondering the question of “identity” is what Richard Phillips is all about. Highly technical, a refinement of precise, academic painting, his bold and beautiful portraits seem so relevant to everything MAC artistry is all about. A collection of eye shadow quads, lipsticks, Lipglass, and The Perfect Cheek Blush just leap off the canvas!
