Having had a chance to play with all of the lip products from Rose Romance, I would definitely say the key benefit of this collection is the amount of options. There are some striking pieces that stand strong on their own as well as a lot of textures and opacities that really lend themselves to layering. LIPGLASS

Virgin Kiss: A beautiful warm, sheer pink with tons of shimmer. Not glitter, but shimmer. Very sheer. Perfect for a subtle lip or layered over Rose Romance and Way to Love Lipstick.

Steal My Heart: A cool, sheer fuschia. Similar to Pink Manish LG, but Steal My Heart is more sheer and cooler in tone. Like Virgin Kiss, this has A LOT of shimmer to it. It’s similar to Love Rules from the A Mei collection in that aspect (it’s much sheerer than Love Rules though).

Magnetique: This is the most opaque of the three. This is definitely one of MAC’s undupeable colours. You just need it. It’s gorgeous. It looks fantastic over Odyssey lipstick.

SEE THRU LIPCOLOUR

Loving Touch: This is the lighter pink colour. It has a warm, golden, pearlesence to it. It is one of the two See Thru Lip Colours that is a new formula containing shimmer (the other being Tender Tryst). Loving Touch is SUPER sheer. It is really just a hint of colour. For those of you wanting subtle, this is truly it. For some, this may just disappear on the lips.

Secret Crush: This is a true, sheer red stain. It will let the natural lip show through, yet give a passionate punch of colour. One of my favourite looks is to first apply Secret Crush, let it set, then apply Lustrewhite Lustreglass over the top. It is the most natural, juicy lip.

Tender Tryst: Definitely my favourite. Tender Tryst is one of the formulas that contains a slight shimmer to it. For those of you who are wondering about this new shimmer formula, it is very comfortable on the lips. You don’t feel any grit or particles. The shimmer itself isn’t very dominant. What it does do is make the lips look a bit dewy, like you have just licked your lips. It’s saucy, kittens, trust me. For a great look,try Tender Tryst as a base, then layer the sheer pink Virgin Kiss lipglass over the top. The dark berry base of Tender Tryst gives the shimmer in Virgin Kiss a serious pop.

LIPSTICK

Way to Love: This is my fave of the two LE lipsticks in this collection. It is a warm, yellow pink that will be great for a nude lip or under Virgin Kiss lipglass.

A Rose Romance: This is one for those who like the subtle pinks. It is a lustre and a medium cool pink, so it will be a boon for some and a bust for others. One of the benes of lustres is that their sheerness will work for a really wide range of skin tones/lip pigmentations, but for a lot (like me), they kind of disappear. Don’t get me wrong, it is really a beautiful colour, my tastes just run a bit more to the extremes. It’s nude or it’s high voltage for me.

Odyssey: Odyssey is the lipstick that I forgot to photograph. D’oh! Oddysey is a fantastic colour though. I have had odyssey in my lipstick harem for ages. It’s a great frosted, medium dark plum. A true staple that you will find yourself going back to over and over. Promise me you will at least try it.

Soooo now that March is upon us, it’s time to get new mascara to replace all the Holiday Hauling you did back in December. Mascara’s shelf life is pretty short, so to prevent any yucky infections, it should be replaced regularly.

Personally, I’m partial to Estee Lauder’s Turbolash and Lancome’s Virtuose, but I’ve also got a soft spot for Cover Girl’s Lash Blast.

What’s your HG mascara? Do you replace every three months like you’re ‘supposed’ to?

I wear CoverGirl Exact Eyelights – Black pearl for my brown eyes (oh how I wish they were Hazel), and a Lancome sampler for occasions, because I’m going thru a broke phase, hahah~

Say “Hello” to my newest girlfriend. She’s amazing, she’s coal black, she’s not smudgy or flaky, and she wiggles. Awesome. Estee Lauder’s TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara ($32) is a nice formula for a dramatic lash that I could wear daily.

I can see the intent behind the vibrating brush, and I DO think it’s quite cool…I’m not sure it makes THAT big of a difference because it’s such a high speed vibration that it’s almost a whirring instead of a vibration, but it’s quite noticeable.

This mascara gave me dramatic doe eyes. Not quite as intensely as the Chanel mascara I reviewed recently, but definitely dramatic, definitely black, definitely intense.  So far it hasn’t flaked to bits on me and it comes off with minimal effort at the end of the day.

TurboLash is meant to lengthen, curl, and volumize all at the same time and I’ll definitely attest to the lengthen and volumize part, but I can’t swear to the curling part because I haven’t tried it without curling my lashes first.  When I do, I’ll let y’all know how it goes.

However.

You know your friend whom you love so much because she’s so much fun but man alive it’s really annoying making plans with her because she’s a Flaky McFlakerpants? Like she flakes out on all of your plans and she is perpetually late and she’ll show up on time if it’s relevant to HER but not so much you?
This mascara is that friend. MAN it’s dramatic and amazing, but after 6 or 7 hours of wear, I had black flakes all OVER my cheekbones.
Now, to be fair, I work in a GYM, so that may have exacerbated the circumstances, so I’m going to keep this mascara in the rotation but…flakes. *sigh*  If it gets better through ‘normal’ wear I’ll definitely let you guys know, but for what I do and how I do it, mayyyyybe not  the best choice.  I love how dramatic it is though.

Yes, yes they were, if I do say so myself. I got to try Exceptionnel De Chanel Mascara and have to say, if I have to pick a regular girlfriend for my lashes, she would be it. In the pic, I’m wearing Smoky Marine.  One freaking coat. Awesome.

The idea behind Exceptionnel De Chanel is the brush…as with any mascara.  It’s a special brush, featuring three brush sides and three comb sides…the idea being that as you swipe your lashes, you rotate the brush outward as you extend to the end of your lashes.

It’s a bit awkward at first, trying to hold and twist and not poke yourself, but once you’ve got it, ahhhh. Sooo great, the results. My lashes were up in my eyebrows.

It can be a bit flaky, but not so much that I hate it like I do a couple of others in my case.   The downside I see to this mascara is it’s $28. That’s a LOT for a mascara, especially considering its short shelf life etc.  BUT! If you’re a  ‘gimme lashes I don’t care about the price’ person, this mascara is MADE for you.

Exceptionnel De Chanel VS Lancome Virtuose

It’s time to dump all my mascara booty calls and get some new ones. I know they’ve got to go because they are starting to flake and go on very dry.

I need some new girls…so I need some wingmen (wingwomen? wingpeople?) to hook up with something fresh and awesome.

A lash comb like this one from The Body Shop will go a long way to preventing the clumpy lashes…just be careful not to pull through your lashes too hard, you could break them off!
