Re: MAC - Monogram - (MAC's Annual Couture Collection) 2008

I got my mystery powder in the mail today! It is a lot smaller than I imagined- I was imagining some big fatty compact with a small dollop of product in the middle, and although the compact is heavy, it's just a normal size compact with an even smaller dollop of product than I hoped! It's definitely not worth $50, even with the refill, but I may keep it, seeing as though the compact is gorgeous! It feels and looks like a collector's piece - I doubt I'll be b2ming this ever! lol. I just wish it had more product!

Re: MAC - Monogram - (MAC's Annual Couture Collection) 2008

I got to see all of this collection over the holiday, & I must say that the packaging is really beautiful....but...I just was not that impressed with anything! The Sheerspark powders were blah. Nothing was that great so I bought nothing! I can't believe it

Re: MAC - Monogram - (MAC's Annual Couture Collection) 2008

I agree the powder compact is heavy. But there is a very small amount of product inside. Not worth it to me.

I however like the lipstick "Marque" and am glad I purchased it. It applies on the sheer side. On me its a nice pink. Its nice, smooth and creamy. But I'll admit I wouldn't repurchase just because its more expensive and the packaging is not all that and a bag of chips . And MAC has other nice pink shades that are more affordable.

Agreed, the reduction in pan size is a disappointment. The product is still fantastic, though, and the compact is beautiful. I just wish, especially if they are keeping the 5 gram size as the new standard, that they would SELL. FREAKING. REFILLS.

That said, I am still on the first refill of my 2007 Stylistics compact, so I don't have any reason to complain. I go through Mystery Powder pretty slowly.

Re: MAC - Monogram - (MAC's Annual Couture Collection) 2008

^^ I agree, what am I going to do with this compact when I've used the product? It's beautiful to look at, but it would be awesome if I could constantly refill it...even if the refills were through the PRO line I'd be happy. I think I'm going to write to MAC and suggest it.

Hmmmm...a pink lipstick that elegant-one didn't buy? That sure gives me confidence in my decision to skip it!

Unless it was just the lighting in the store, it didn't really seem all that pink to me. It was more of a pinky rosey reddish tint but frosty - if that makes sense. I wasn't wild about it

I already have Marque, which is pretty.

you're funny

if you have the pro discount are you allowed to get the discount with these items. I bought the identity dazzleglass which looks EXACTLY like baby sparks..uuuuhhh....and i paid full price...im started to get mad with MAC. they are not caring in the collections they are coming out with.

Pro Discount will kick in in about two or three weeks. (Definitely before Christmas)

Couture collections never sell out, and with the state of the economy especially I don't think there's much danger of there being a mad rush on this collection. So if you can wait, just be patient.

Have they announced *when* the discounts kick in? The kids at the soho store seemed totally clueless as to the exact date.

these are lipglasses, not dazzleglasses, so even if they are similar in color, they're a completely different product.

Monogram Lipgloss

Has anyone noticed that on the site (atleast the Canadian site), it says that these are 4.8 grams but really they're only 2.7 grams?

My manager said it was December 15th last year, so I suppose it'll be around then this year. :3

Re: MAC - Monogram - (MAC's Annual Couture Collection) 2008

So, what's up with the brushes? I bought a 224 the other day when I was at the pro store but I got the normal one. Am I the only one who hates the handles? I think they look cheap.
The MAs were joking that the charms on the end were for heavy-handed people!

That being said, I actually like the compacts! They look a lot better in person.

Re: MAC - Monogram - (MAC's Annual Couture Collection) 2008

OK, I got my 129 today & I already have a love/hate relationship with it.
Love...because I think its very pretty, IMO it does not look or feel cheap also its super soft like last years 129.
Hate...because I know I will be getting annoyed with the charm on the end, the clanking around is already irritating me. Also, the bag is HORRIBLE, you cannot keep putting it in its bag cause it will eventually ruin the bristles of the brush...last years bag had an open flap & came with a hard plastic to put the brush before you stuffed it in its bag that kept the bristles formed, this years bag doesn't open this way(it has a pull tie string that sucks cause it doesn't open enough to get the brush out without the bristles all getting pulled backwards when getting it out of the bag & also didn't come with the hard plastic shell to protect the brush(ugh, I wish I could explain it better, but the design of the velvet pouch is terrible!!!)
So I like it enough to keep it, but it does not inspire me to get the 224.

I also got monodramtic gloss & I love it...no complaints there.
Swatches & brush pics will be up soon in the swatch thread.

Re: MAC - Monogram - (MAC's Annual Couture Collection) 2008

I can't wait to get my Identity Lipglass! MAC didn't e-mail me about shipping my products. Usually they do and I went on the website to check and see if they shipped it yet. Now I might get the 129 and the 224 brushes! I've been wanting some MAC brushes and I heard that they are very soft compared to the Sonia Kashuk brushes.

Re: MAC - Monogram - (MAC's Annual Couture Collection - 08) Discussion

well, my awesome fiancé bought me some of the monogram collection for finishing and presenting my thesis and graduation. I love love love the lipglasses and the lipstick. I got Marque l/s and Posh life and Distinguished l/g. I personally love Marque with Distinguished over it.

However: he ordered Sheerspark pressed powder in Old English and the Sheer Mystery Powder in Dark Secret. The Sheerspark pressed powder isn't bad, but I could have lived w/o it. When it runs out I will probably use the compact for blush. But, the downside is the mystery powder. They were all for very very very warm tones. I'm lucky my mom is warm toned. (she would be the equivalent of an NC35, if that even exists) While I, on the other hand am NW30. It wasn't too dark...it was just a funny yellow color on me. It happens to look great on my mom, but she felt bad taking the AMAZING compact from me, so she put the powder in another container...I think I had an extra blush container that I had depotted w/o much damage. So all is well. I was just sad about the color.

Anyway, the compact is FABULOUS. I love it! It reminds me of an updated antique pocketwatch. <3

I'm really loving my Marque l/s (which I've said before reminds me of a creamy Lustre and not a Frost) and it is my favourite lipstick until something new comes along. Which probably means it's my favourite until next month.

I think you flipped warm and cool. The W in NW is for warm (pink undertones) and the C in NC is for cool (yellow undertones). (I think, someone tell me if I am off-base, since I seem to have just assumed these were the meanings)

I ordered the Medium Plus (middle color) MP and it makes me look like I got a really bad spray tan! It's so orangey on my skin! I feel really bad but I might have to return the entire thing. I don't want to b/c the compact is gorgeous and it's kind of a waste to have them throw it out, but it doesn't look good on me at all. I didn't pay $50 for a useless compact. I don't know what to do..well if anyone wants it, LMK!

In MAC world, NC is neutral cool and NW is neutral warm. However, with just about every other line our there, yellow skin tones are warm and pink are cool.

We didn't get it at my Nordstrom counter either. It is only available at select Nordstroms.

My guess is that it's because it's closer to the art world system, where pink would be warm.

I wish I could see some swatches of the sheerspark pressed powders. I cannot buy these sight-unseen like I did last year. Last year's powders were crappy. I need a review of how this year's crop is -- texture, application, etc.
I like the Keepsake Sheerspark Powder that I have. It is nice on fair skin and shows up on me. It is a light pink with gold glitter particles. I use it as blush.
