Mac Cosmetics 2009 Icon Speculation Part II - Page 5

Re: Mac Cosmetics 2009 Icon Speculation Part II

I am not totally impressed about Aretha Franklin. It's nice that its a real diva, a true icon, great singer, inspiration etc.. but I just can't see where they will be going with this collection.. though it probably will be nice (its MAC)

I think if Amy winehouse wasn't so messed she could be a front runner.. to me (her minus the drama, drugs etc) is icon status.
would have also liked......... Tori Amos, Mariah, uhhhh a tribute to Billie, Ella, Dinah.. or other old jazz singers. That would be classic.

I see alot of airbrushing coming.

Why Aretha?? Why not Tina. She's got so much spunk and edge!

I agree. Totally. Tina Turner would have been better IMO! I am not dissing on Aretha Franklin at all I just think MAC missed the mark that's all. If the makeup is awesome I'll buy it regardless.

OMG! Tish you make me laugh like a crazy person. I love reading your posts. and yes, again I agree with you. remember the weird hairdo she was sporting last year at some award show?
She's an Icon in the music world, but damn, MAC picks the most out there people.

Ok, exception: Amy Winehouse is not applicable as an icon IMO

Purple Rain e/s

I'm still bummed. They could have called it "The Cosmetic Line Formerly Known As MAC". That would have been awesome.

Me too, except that he's a man; but Franz List would be delicious.

Re: Mac Cosmetics 2009 Icon Speculation Part II

Don't Jehovah's Witnesses have something against makeup and vanity? If anything, I'm sure the Prince of now wouldn't agree to it.

Besides, if we're going for men in makeup, it should be Bowie. He was a pioneer, even for Prince I'm sure.

There's a difference between an iconic artist who just so happens to wear makeup, and an artist who has become iconic for not only they're talent, but what they've presented aesthetically to the world. Diana Ross made sense because, despite her recent clown like appearance, she's got a definitive visual aesthetic.

it would be great, but knowing how Iman has her own cosmetics line, i doubt Bowie would agree to do an icon collection with mac

Re: Mac Cosmetics 2009 Icon Speculation Part II

^... Read my post again there. I think I explained it pretty well.

>_>

By the way, Iman sucked the cool out of Bowie. They're both gorgeous, but now they seem really boring.

My dear rbella, I'm afraid I must politely (or impolitely, as the case may be), disagree with you.

*clears throat*

FUCK. PRINCE.

Joe. My. God.: Prince Comes Out (As Anti-Gay)

After that I'm pretty confident MAC would never, will never, have anything to do with him. MAC loves them some gays.

Re: Mac Cosmetics 2009 Icon Speculation Part II

Prince is honestly one of the gayest men ever in the history of humanity. What straight guy loves paisley that much?

I told my mom that Aretha is going to have her own MAC collection and she was like "What??? I'll totally buy all of it." We saw her on an old episode of Emeril today and she looked like a hot mess (thats why she said "what???") but we love her!

They MUST have a l/s or l/g called "Pink Cadillac"! That would be AWESOME!

Did you see his love scene in "Purple Rain"? No straight man would be that damn awkward with Appolonia's tig 'ole bitties.

You know I love me some Randy Rose, but don't make me break out my gloves.

Re: Mac Cosmetics 2009 Icon Speculation Part II

I haven't heard (or read) tig ol' bitties in FOREVER!

This pic is on google images, labeled as "the gayest Prince picture ever"It DEFINITELY is! Basically he shouldn't be throwing stones in his purple glass house.

And who-the-eff has a crucifix hanging on their shower wall?

You've never seen the cover to the 'Sexuality' single then.

Regardless of Prince's point of views, no matter how disturbing they may seem, he will always be the shit artistically. He's a legend, even if he may be a religious fanatic now.

I don't think I have. But if I did its been a really long time. I was REALLY into Prince a couple years ago. (NOT sexually)
