Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

I haven't been on here for a while...been missing out!

Elegant - Is the Smashbox concealer you use the High Definition one? I can't seem to find the page in this thread where you talk about it! Have you tried it yet, Shypo? Thoughts?

All this talk of the matte bronzer is definitely making me want it! Especially since you all know how much I've been whining about not being able to get the illuminating bronzer in sunkissed!! I have been considering trying the new bronzer by Too Faced - Aqua Bunny Cream to Powder Splash-Proof Bronzer. In one review on MakeupAlley, it was compared to the Chanel bronzer and it said it is very similar but a bit less orange, which sounds good to me! I don't have a lot of Too Faced products, but love what I've trid. The Shadow Insurance is HG for me - worked a thousand times better than UDPP. I've also tried a blush that I really liked.

Painted my toes with Nouvelle Vague yesterday. Didn't think I would like aqua on my toes, but I love it! I can see myself wearing this A LOT this summer. I only have Nouvelle Vague and Particuliere as far as Chanel nail polishes go. Like the former on my toes better and the latter on my fingernails better!

Definitely wanting that bright pink blush coming out with the fall collection!

Oh and I'm still obsessed with Rose Comete. I don't think I've worn any other lip colour since I've got it!

I definitely will once we're in there, I'm so excited about actually having some space to organize things!! But we're actually going to be at my mom's for four months till it's ready! That gives me enough time to really instill the "rules" for the new house for the kids! The first rule is that there will NOT be any toy cars in any rooms with wood flooring! I cannot tell you all how many dents we have on our current floors (and furniture, and scratches on the walls) from my kids dropping cars or playing "crash"! There's a ton of rules, but that is the golden rule!!!

I really wanted to go to the counter today at lunch, but got a good parking spot at work, so will hit one on the way to t-ball tonight!!! Hopefully I'll be able to get the bronzer/base thingy we've all been talking about!

No. its the brand new waterproof/longwear. I wore it again over the weekend & I must say that I do like it. Not as much as the Almay, but I have to find something to replace it.

Ohh & Ahh on that nail polish I bet its pretty. And, I absolutely LOVE Rose Comete!!!

I cannot wait to see what that bronzer actually looks like on me I hope I like it.

Aggghh, it was awful & I have one very small (but it bugs me) discolored spot still til this day where it broke out. I read that many others had the exact same thing happened to them when they first used it

Can those spots be lasered away?

The MAC wipes are excellent for removing all makeup, but I have never used them on my face. Afraid too I think

On the Clarsonic - I've been curious about it too but I'm also chicken. I read where it can break capillaries in the face. That would not be good. But, a lot of women love it.

I wonder if something like Retin-A will help lessen the appearance. It has worked wonders for some of the discolouration on my chin from past break outs.

I painted my nails with Nouvelle Vague yesterday and contrary to what I expected I loved it. Normally I am not a huge fan of pastels, but I love this one. It has just enough shimmer to make it interesting.

On a related note, I wore Genial and luckily the smell and the taste are pretty nonexistent. But except wearing a black/brown liner, I have no idea what to wear it with.
Do you girls have any suggestions?! TIA

Aw, what a mean mom - jk You don't like your floors all destroyed. I swear, if you have boys, its seems like everything eventually gets broke a little

You're getting the bronzer too!? I'm still trying to decide if I need to order the large 168 brush??? I have the 168 short handle that came in the brush sets - do I still need the regular one for the bronzer because the head is smaller on the short handle. MAC has free overnight shipping today only

I may check out the retin a. Clinique is supposed to have a new product that gets rid of those spots maybe I'll get a sample to try.

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Thanks Elegant. It must be really new because I don't even see it on Sephora's website (unless I am blind). I am always willing to try new concealers!

bis - I don't have Genial (kinda wish I did), but I would think it would look good with a neutral bronzey colour eyeshadow - very summery. I like your idea of just a brown or black eyeliner too. Glad you like Nouvelle Vague too!

I've always been interested in the Clarsonic, but I am scared my skin will freak out if I try it.

Do you mean the Even Better serum? I tried it to get rid of some discoloration and it broke me out

Thanks, I will try it out. A nice bronzey, gold eye with a thick black liner sounds interesting

I'm so glad the smell and taste aren't a problem for you! Genial is so gorgeous (yep, still want it!). I think it would look lovely with a wash of something along the peachy/pinky/nude gold tone (maybe Hey, Naked Lunch or All That Glitters), with black/brown liner and lots of mascara and a light pinky-coral blush (maybe Fleur Power or Marine Life with a light hand?).

It may be exclusive to QVC for a limited time? They were the first to launch it. So, they have it & maybe Smashbox.com but I'm not sure.

EDIT: Nope, Smashbox.com does not have it. That must mean its a QVC only for right now.

I can't remember what it was called. I only saw it on a commercial. Why does everything have to break our skin out I won't even bother to try it.
Actually the Chanel UV essentiels is supposed to help fade discolorations but I don't think I've used it enough times yet to notice a difference.

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

I got Stressa today. Audrey darling, if you are still reading here, you may like this color.

It's a fairly sheer, very pale blue baby pink with a kind of duochrome, or bubble sheen to it. Very subtley pretty.

I would probably wear it with a very neutral eye, cream/taupe type combo and either a light coral shade on the cheeks or just some bronzer.

I'm getting the bronzer! I went by the counter nearest to my home tonight and they were out. But they had the tester, and I love it! It's very similar to MAC's Golden bronzer in colour. Only thing is, the pot is smaller than I thought. On my hand (which is definitely darker than my face), the bronzer swatched a bit deeper in colour. I'm going to give it a try with the 130 first, seeing as it's firmer than the 168, which doesn't really seem like the best suited brush for this. I also can't see the 168 really fitting in the pot all that well, unless it's in different packaging in the U.S.. I called the counter by my work and they put the last one aside for me! (And Exquise!).

And ya, I'm a mean mom!!! Honestly though, the amount of dents on our floors drove me to drink. And the new house will have deep brown wood floors, so dents will show even more. I'm really neurotic when it comes to things like that!

And finally, while at the counter, I played with the single e/s. Did some of you mention that this is new in the U.S.? I did get confused when you were all talking about it, because it's not new here. I ended up really liking Trace and Lotus. Trace is a shimmery deep chocolate brown. I think I may get these instead of the taupe duo for now. The texture on these is really nice. For any of you that have them, how do they wear in terms of staying power and slipping?

You're killin' me!

And I'm now lemming a bunch of things from Paul & Joe Beaute. Gotta figure out how to budget it all. :/

Some of the colors are new in the US - Heather Rose, Deep Taupe, Vanilla, Lily, & couple more that I cannot remember.

Great! I thought the 168 may not be the best. I have a large brush that I may try. I think you'll like Exquise.

You crack me up

There are a few new single e/s now at the US. You can check out the Chanel US website. Trace and Lotus are not the new ones. My counters haven't gotten the new e/s and I hope we will get them but I'm not confident.

Anyone use the MAC wipes to remove eye makeup as well? I used them for a few days and they were too harsh, so I went back to using Chanel bi-phase eye makeup remover. elegant, I think you mentioned that perhaps the remover has nutrients and you may be right. My eye lashes seem longer. Used to have very short stumpy lashes. Too bad it can't curl and lift my lashes.

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

I heard back from a Chanel rep from the website about the fall collection. After my quite specific question wondering when the fall cosmetics collection would be launched in-store and online, I got an amazing response with all kinds of detailed information including dates and specific items and looks...

........about the fall fashion line.

Oh well...at least I tried!

Maybe a pastel e/s for a 60's look or a heavy winged eyeliner of two colors (black and gold, brown and turquoise or matte brown with frosty goldy brown) like the one on To the Beach promos??

Congrats on getting the bronzer and Exquise!!

Just to clear things out, the bronzer comes in a huge package almost as big as the loose powder. The little pot in the testers it's just that, a tester. Believe me, all the brushes you've just mention are going to fit in there and have lots of space to twirl around!!

The jar of cream bronzer is really huge, which is part of the reason why I didn't buy it. I don't think I can ever finish up the jar before it turns rancid.

Slate and Lily go back a year to May 2009. Lotus and Mahogany were repromotes at that time, no idea when they originally came out.

The Beauty Look Book: Les Naturels de Chanel

Heather Rose, Deep Taupe and Vanilla are new here.

I have Lotus and agree about the texture but don't wear it enough to really answer your question about staying power. Sorry!

I use the Shiseido cotton pads for my eye area and think they are well worth it. I'd be curious to try these, but not sure they'd be worth double the price of the Shiseido to me....just assuming the packages have similar quantities.

Thanks for this info ladies! I understand now, lol! We didn't get the new shades either then, but I've decided on Trace and Lotus!
