MAC - Grand Duos Discussion - Page 62

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

Geeko: You look so pretty with Moon River! No wonder you love it so much. I can't wait to get my hands on Hot Planet now, on your recommendation!

If anything, I'm sticking to the 2 I got and no more!
But who knows what will happen when I finally see Grand Duo and Light Over Dark IRL...

NO MORE BLUSHERS for me!!! Someone pls pull me away from all the blusher counters...

Winnie: I agree with you. In the country where Winnie and I live (We live in Singapore by the way).......most of the women only wear foundation, powder, light blush and light lip colors even on off work days. Colorful make up is frowned upon in our country. The first question that one of my uni mates asked me when i wore a yellow blue e/s combo to sch one day was "Are u having some kinda performance today?"

This tells u what the kind of culture we live in. I wish I lived in an environment where people are more receptive to COLORS.
That's how it is in Korean culture too. They are all about the natural look. My dad hates my makeup but whatever. I was born and raised in America so that is all I know. I LOVE color!!!!

So I went to MAC today and I only ended up getting Hot planet. My MA swatched all of the blushes with me and he said that the only ones he would put on me were hot planet and moon river. He told me I didn't need all the other ones. I am so glad he said that because I was scared I was going to have to dish out a lot of money today. When I went in there though there were no more hot planet's left. He said he sold the last two right before I came so I got sad. I asked him to check one more time for me and he found one hidden between the light over dark YAY So I got the last one at my store. I kind of wanted to get love rock and grand duo butI stopped myself from getting them. Earth to earth was really pretty too but I already have nuance. If you don't have nuance go get Earth to earth because I almost got that one too.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

^^ Interesting, the MA yesterday recommended Hot Planet and Moon River for me too. I ended up w/ both of them but I don't know how I feel about Hot Planet yet.

After 5 blushes out of 7, I am done with this collection. I love them all!

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

LadyJ, you're Korean?! Hmm well ok since you're born in America that makes you American, but I didn't know you had Korean blood in you.

Does anyone know how Light Over Dark compares to Brunette MSF? Swatches or pics, anyone?

Is there anyone else who finds Hot Planet orangey looking on the cheeks? I haven't tried it on yet, but I still think it looks kinda orange...

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

I tried on Hot Planet today.
PURE LOVE. I'm so glad I got this. I swirled both sides together, and it's a beautiful coral peachy flush with shimmer. I glow.

I'll put up a picture soon.

I can't wait for Love Rock to come.

And I swatched Moon River, Light Over Dark, and Grand Duo. And as temping as Grand Duo was, I only liked the raspberry side, the veined side not so much, so I skipped it. I didn't like Light Over Dark at ALL. And Moon River is too light for me.

So I'm satisfied with what I got.

Did you use any foundation? Your cheeks look so good!

I'm in Singapore too and yes, I hate that people in school stare when i put a little more colour... My usual fix: a good sunscreen, concealer (my dark circles are lengendary! lol!), loose powder to set and a little blush if I've got some extra time. But whenever I put blush or just a little lip colour, people keep asking why I put so much make up to school. I'm like "hello, its the same as usual, just that my lips are coloured today..." I dont even put false lashes and mascara like the other girls and draw those insanely thick lash lines! Its like colours are so not allowed or something... ughhh...

Yay Earth to Earth love! Although I have to say, after having worn it, it looks best over something else, at least for me (I'm NW45 for reference).

Nice! Intenso looks kinda pinkish on you; I'm surprised.

People in school/class stare at me, but my friends are used to it... My face makeup alone is so thick! 2 Primers + Foundation + Concealer + Powder... 5 layers! If you include blush then it'll be 6. Of course I would want to add color to my look, so it'll either be bold cheeks or a bold lip.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

I bought Moon River today. I didn't realize these were retailing at $44 here. SO EXPENSIVE! The BBR MSFs cost $51 each, go figure.

At my counter, Moon River (4 pcs left, now 3) and Love Rock (2 pcs left) were the fast selling ones. Not too surprising to me.

I will be going back for Earth To Earth and Grand Duo. Still not too sure about Hot Planet and Light Over Dark, but I will trust Elaine's judgement and get Hot Planet too.

LOL honestly??? How much time do you take? I can't do that because my current regime is already taking up quite a bit of time... And when there are morning classes and I'm already running late, I just grab my loose powder and blush and do all the setting and blushing on the bus or when I reach school. My friends are used to the blush thingy but one of them thinks that blush=china girl...

Oh they keep changing the prices... Before it was released, the price was like $41... then somehow, after all the press publicity, they went up to $44...

I've been procrastinating about the duo blushes... I heard that if you love MSF and blushers, you must get this... I love them both! But honestly I've got TOOOOOOO many already... and I'm honestly wondering if I should get them because I never seem to be able to finish them.

Just when I think that MAC will never release anything better than what they just release (like when Dainty came out, it was pure love for me), they come up with something better. And I've still got so many backups as well! UGHHH!!!

BTW where which counter do you patronise?

Honestly, yes. I will not leave home without my face makeup on. Ever. It takes me about 15 min? I'll rather be slightly late for class then skip my makeup. And I'll rather fork out cash to cab down to school just so I can do my makeup.

And oh, sometimes I have class at 8:30am, but the makeup still has to be done.

When I'm running late I do my lips on the bus/train/taxi. Mind you, this consists of chapstick, lip liner (outline + fill in whole lip), lipstick, and gloss (this step is optional).

Why blush = China girl? That's ridiculous. What will they say when they see me with my bold, bold lips then?

Whao! I stay pretty far from my school and the travelling time is insane... I've cabbed to school before and I and almost buy a MAC lippie with the fare. I always ask my gf to give me a morning call like say 6am? And they're tell me that they only wake up at 7.30am. Honestly? By then, I should have left the house or I'll be late! They're so lucky to be staying near school!

I have no idea why my gf made the connection between rosy cheeks and china girls but I still go about my ways with my blushes. I look so dead because I survive on so little sleep so if I don't add any colour to my face, I should just join the Cullen family.

FYI I don't stay near school either. It takes me at least one hour to get there. But makeup still gets the priority over sleep, even on days when I'm seriously sleep deprived.

^^ I usually skip make up rather than be late for class though...

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

1 hour is considered pretty good isnt it? Ever since I moved to where I am 8 years ago, I never travelled below 1.5hours to school before... from secondary to jc to now... I've to leave the house 2 hours in advance or I'll never catch the right timing for the buses...

Anyways, is Moon River too light on u? I'm contemplating if I should get it for my mother if I'm not buying it for myself...

Nope...I didn't use foundation today as i'm lettin my skin take a break from make up.. BUT blusher is A MUST for me if i get out of the house cause i look sickly without any color on my cheeks

I love colorful eyeshadows...but as what u said..people in our country aren't receptive to the idea of colors. They will think our make up is over thick and too grand for everyday wear. Damn

2 hours?! That is very long... Singapore is pretty small eh? Where do you live?

I will probably wear Moon River tomorrow, I'd get back to you about it then. But I'm much darker than you (you're NC15 right), so it will show up on you... Don't think you need to worry about that.

Do you know where is the Singapore Indoor Stadium? I stay in the private estate around there. There's only one bus service... ONE! And usually, if i miss the bloody bus, I have to wait 30minutes for the next one. The longest I've waited was 1 entire hour. Most people staying here are expats or locals with housing and travel allowance so they usually drive or take the cabs. I haven't passed my theory yet... boohoo!

I'm contemplating between the grand duo blushes and the sugarsweet MSF. Either I get Moon River and Love Rock or Refined and Perfect Topping...
